At GenCon, and all that that entails…
Nth Degree Fiction Updates
First, a quick plug for e-zine Nth Degree (I'm associate editor, and it's run by my lifelong friend Mike Pederson). They're going to be doing twice weekly new fiction on Mondays and Thursdays. When the new Erfworld.com is built (that's not going well, btw, beta is still many months away and we're going to need some programming help now), there will be an Nth Degree blog for game-related fiction here.
GenCon Week: Awesome but Not Easy
The Erfworld booth at GenCon Indy is #841. Xin and I are really looking forward to meeting readers, signing and doing sketches. There is really nothing in the world like GenCon.
But just so you understand, I am literally on the highway now typing this (just crossed into Ohio, no I am not driving). Xin will fly out in the morning. It's 12 hours each way for me, 5 days of work running a booth. This is the only con in the year that Xin does, and it really takes its toll on us. We've been working for the last 2 months on our process to build up a sufficient buffer to cover this space, but we really couldn't. It takes a week to make one comic page and one text, and that's the fact on the ground.
We were not going to have an update this week, or I was planning to do one of the Kickstarter reward texts as filler. But I decided we had time to do a Parson's Klog and at least give our protagonist some much needed real estate. Art for page 085 is done, and I will letter it when I get back from Indianapolis. That page will be more "tunnel talk," and if you feel like complaining about any of that, there's exactly one thing to say:
See you in Indy!
