How the cards are gonna fall

Postby No one in particular » Fri Apr 29, 2011 1:05 am

So there have been a number of card game references scattered around Erfworld. Tramennis is a card shark. Ace's wild. Slately might be considered something of a suicidal king.

What I'm getting at is... before all this is over, Jack's going to lose an eye.

Predictamancy, yo. I read it in the cards.

Wouldn't the eye heal at the start of the next turn?

No. Which is why it's going to be important, since dude. Actual lasting, non-fatal injuries. Whoa~

I'm not 100% sure about lost eyes falling under Signamancy-based alterations (representations?). That seems like it either would have or should have an effect, stat-wise, on the one-eyed unit, and that makes things a bit sticky...Of all the character notes we've seen, we haven't seen any scars or lasting wounds. Caesar got hacked up at Carpool, taking multiple arrows (including one in the ribs, what a tough customer Caesar must be), but was A-OK the next day.

We've never seen it, but can you really see Rob passing up the chance to make pirate jokes?

It's possible if a unit participated in a LOT of battles that involved being hacked to pieces, that his/her signamancy might shift towards that of a scarred veteran, eye-patch and all.

its more your position and frame of mind. signamancy is like a heads up sign. if the thing you are looking at has wings breaths fire and claws, it is a dwagon. it always thinks it is a dwagon. the fun thing in erfworld, is that if you thought of yourself one way, you start to look that way. so if a long time vet started to think of units yonger than him as young fools, thought of himself as old, and remebered lots of injeries, he would be a grisled old vet in a few dozen turns. no one fould notice the diffrance, like growing a few inches. a great thinkamancy spell would make a unit think of itself another way. make slatly think more kingly, and he would get taller and stronger. make jack think of himself as a Knave, and he loses an eye
