Ouch. Incredible bad luck on the Huwwie-

wait a minute. EDIT: I'm a bit confused by the "Total Damage: 60". What does this mean? The attack sum is 106, there are no bonuses nudging it either way and the random factor does not reduce it either. From 106, if you factor in our stack's defense, you get to 49 damage (as indicated), but what's 60 doing there?

Hm. Well, at least we have a Field Gun and another Siege Tank on the way. They better get here fast.
The whole point of this is lost if you keep it a secret.

That was from when I made my error and forgot the fort defence bonus. 60 would have been how much attack was left in that stack, when I edited with corrections I missed that bit.

Yeah, reworking with those numbers puts a 106 there, which gives 49 hits on us when multiplied by our defense bonus.

We still need that last attack run, right?

Yes we do. If anyone can take care of that ...

After that we have Defensive stacking.

Also, I notice there are two Kanites left at B5, that my orders didn't touch. Excellent. They should travel with Risun. I'll take care of order suggestions once the last attack is calculated.

I would use the Kanite Militants to explore by force F5 and G4 with one Kanite, and E4 and E3 with the other.

Just a heads up - I'll be out of town for a week and unable to do computing/calculating/map-drawing/etc. I'll still try to keep up though.

Well, I'll take it upon myself to do the last combat.
Insertion attacks Warlord

COMBAT!
Battle is joined in hex: B3
TIME OF POST (in minutes and seconds): 2509
Attacker:
Total Attack Value: 259
Level of Highest Commander: 4
Total Defence of Stack: 83
Number of Units: 26
Average Defence: 3
Terrain Bonus of Hex: 0.0
Special Bonus: 1.0
Random Percentage: 60%
Total Damage: 218

Hits Inflicted on the Enemy: 27

Defender
Total Attack Value: 94
Number of Units: 4
Level of Highest Commander: 0
Total Defence of Stack: 20
Number of Units: 4
Average Defence: 5
Terrain Bonus of Hex: 2.0
Special Bonus: 0.3
Ambush Bonus: 1.0
Random Percentage: 100%
Total Damage: 24

Hits Inflicted on the Enemy: 14

So, last Twoll croaked, one Gowem at 7 HP, the other two at full (30).

One Ewephant at 16 HP, Edmund gains one XP.

If someone else can roll combat and I'm able, Dagnabit is willing to throw himslef and his troops to finish off that Gowem.

Dagnabit and all Buggeral units except Blunderbuss were part of Team Insertion.

For what it's worth, my move recommendations.

C8: Dixon and Dwakvir and Dwakon Knight mount Twain, Twain moves to B5.
C8: 4x Dwakon Knights move to C6.
C8: Blunderbuss moves to C5.
C7: Field Gun moves to B5, Heavy Aimursa stays with it.
C5: Ewephant moves to B5.

And one order.
Heavy Aimursa x3, with two carrying Kanite Militants as passengers, move to E5. Daimyo moves with them.

Thanks, Nihila!

Right, unfortunately all remaining units (except Risun and 2 Kanites) were with Team Insertion. We had a bit of a bad roll there (merely 60%). To think that we could have taken out a Gowem! Oh well.

As it stands, the enemy lost, I think, 4 GTwolls and a Commander, versus our casualties of 1 Huwwie (so far ...). No, it's not exactly a fair exchange, let's see what happens on their turn though.

Okay, I was going to ask Nihila for his orders, but since those are done, I'll do defensive stacking. Meaning, next post I'll suggest orders, leave about half a day for comments and suggestions, then apply any changes and make them official, ending turn.

Defensive stacking:

All of our Heavies (15+ MaxHP units with 5 Def) in a stack. Minotaurs first. Demonowiths (with full health), Ewephant, Demonowith (wounded), Siege Tank etc, Warlords. Excellent that we have three level 4s now!

(EDIT: why Minotaurs first? Two reasons: a) offense-wise, better lose two Minotaurs than an Ewephant and b) we can bring Minotaurs forward fast(er) than we can replace our other heavies. Let's hope our casualties are not too big, in any case).

The other units, for the most part, are expendable and we can stack each of them individually. Aka, stack spam. The problem with that is that, actually, we only want to have about 4 stacks in GB, so that each will get attacked once. Maybe twice or so, if GB summons new troops by popping.

This means we have several troops with some move left (list coming up, but I know for sure the Axemen and Dwarven Champions have move left- they were mounted). The idea is to fan these in hexes around GB, and stack-spam those hexes. We don't want ... external reinforcements ... to complicate matters.

Finally, did anyone mention that our reinforcement heavies need to get their butts moving to GB?

Right, units with move:

All these units have at least 1 move left: 7x Axe Dwarf, 2x Kanite Militant, 2x Dwarf Champion, 2x Mehian Spearman, 2x Mehian Crossbower (one Mehian Spearman went on his own power, no move left as a consequence).

Therefore, we can chose from among these units to fan out in the hexes to the SE, E, NE of GB.

According to this post, you had 67 points before popping the Siege Tank.

(And this post, after you made the tank, places those points at 7. Updating ...)(EDIT: <- I am obviously impaired in the mainframe to have forgotten Ctrl+V. Oh well. The post below is up to date, look at that one).

Yeah, I need to bring the pop point history up to date. Processing ...

With the intelligence on the Golmons, the Risun Mathamancer has sent our Coalition a rather hasty report, on a possible attack on the Golmons, if the Golmons form a single stack.

Lokarat can deal up to 78 damage to the Duke's stack, but the Duke will deal at least 34 damage to the Golmons.

We'll take heavy casualties if we attack, but the ranged attack alone will account for the entire stack (5 Knights with 5 HP=25, 1 Hawk with 1 HP=26, Lokarat with 4 HP=30).

I must have been asleeep, but other than breaking side with us, did the Golmons actually declare war upon us? I see no reason to attack them an incite a possible war with yet another side, especially when we have no knowledge of thier cities and how far away he has reinforcements and such.

(In character)
"The barbarians broke alliance and allied with Gobwin Bump. Or, at least, they began movement after the Bump popped units but before the Bump ended turn. Good enough? And, after the ranged attack, we still have a collection of Mists and Militants, as well as Risun's cavalry."

(Out of character)

That's where Az's post went... took long enough for me to find.

Also, the Golmon Knights are horrible things to fight, with maxed out defense, high move, and 8 attack, and they're ranged. It's just better for us to hunt them down before they reach the city.

Question in the team insertion attack, how did the attack sum come to 259?

Only the first 8 units in the stack count correct so thats:
Ewephant 30
3x Axe Dwarf 15 (mounted on the Ewephant)
Dwaconian 30
3x Axe Dwarf 15 (mounted on the Dwaconian)
=120

Code: Select all
COMBAT!
Battle is joined in hex:   C10
TIME OF POST (in minutes and seconds):   2509
Attacker:
Total Attack Value:   120
Level of Highest Commander:   4
Total Defence of  Stack:   83
Number of Units:   26
Average Defence:   3
Terrain Bonus of Hex:   0.0
Special Bonus:   1.0
Random Percentage:   60%
Total Damage:   101

The result is the same though last Garrison Twoll dead and an injured Gowem, except it has 27 hits left not 7. (And the 7 was wrong anyway 27 - 10 needed to kill the Garrison Twoll left 17 damage to the Gowem leaving it on 13HP's)

Secondly I know we lost a Huwwicane, but is it still worth having one of the four stacks to be a ranged one?
