Adreena will spend her time adapting her lantern (using her hood, sack, grease etc) to be a covered lantern ( unidirectional, if it not already so) that would be good for signalling or throwing a beam of light (think pen torch) but not much good for illuminating an area

Stephanie changes course, and heads South West.

After many hexes journey, she sets down on a coastal hex near some impressive cliffs.

Jax hands her weapons to a crewmember, and slips into the water. A phase or two later, she returns, and waves Stephanie behind some rocks and into a small bay. Climbing back on board, she looks at Stack Seven. "This is where you get off."

She steps from the Megadugon and onto a small shelf of rock. "Follow me." She walks around the ledge until the group is out of sight of Stephanie.

"Raveesh? You can come out now."

A small clink of stones, and from almost nowhere appears a grey marbit.

"Raveesh, this is stack seven. Stack, this is Raveesh. She knows these hexes and tunnels like the back of her hand. She will guide you to the underzone of Castria. Good luck."

Jax turns and heads back around the corner.

Raveesh looks at the stack. "Ready? Follow."

Wildthwing walks directly behind the marbit with his shield and Axe out and the axe ready to hit the grey marbit if he suddenly darts off into the rocks or something of the sort.

Sing falls in line directly behind Wild, scanning for anything that looks unusual.

Doctor Love Shack will walk along in the middle of the group, looking around idly. Shack briefly considers hitting on their guide but thinks better of it, too much noise and all.

Adreena will take up the rear, if she knows of Toothry's spell and his intention to cast or sees him casting she will attempt to stop him and advise him to wait till our guide actually stops, well within the tunnels. Explaining that there may be too many entrances to guard effectively and our guide would surely pick an unguarded entrance. The enemy are more likely to guard chokepoints, which hopefully our guide will know. It is then his spell will be most effective.

Toothry will ignore any attempts to stop him from casting the spell. Not being unfamiliar with treachery, and knowing that there is at least one spy who has been in contact with the group, he is taking precautions against the possibility of a mole within the group, or that their guide is leading them into a trap. He is waiting until they enter the tunnels to mask his suspicions, as well as making sure they aren't walking directly into the arms of the enemy. He'll voice none of this however, and if questioned, will only shrug and state "better safe than sorry."

Raveesh leads the stack around the cliff ledge, until they arrive at a small tunnel hidden behind an outcrop of rock.

"This way. Carefully - it can be slippery."

Upon entering the cave, Toothry mutters an incantation, only to be grabbed by Adreena. "Not a good idea, von Count."
Toothry glares (and I mean glares) back. "Better safe zan sorry!"
Wildthwing growls "QUIET! WE ARE SNEAKING!"

ROLLING:
Toothry rolls to cast: Failure [11]
Adreena rolls to convince: Success [4]
Toothry rolls to rebut: Failure [11]
Wildthwing rolls to encourage silence: Failure [18]

Toothry is convinced not to cast any more spells in this tunnel.

The cave is not very dark, but moss and seaweed grow everywhere. This space must get wet regularly.
There are some rough steps carved in the far wall, leading up.

At the bottom of the stairs, Raveesh produces a small lamp and lights it with some flint. He offers the flame to the stack, and lights their lamps.

"My people carved these steps three thousand turns ago, before there was a city or any hoomans here. The tunnels are clean and stable, but very dark. Stay close."

Raveesh leads the way up the stairs and into a long and airy chamber. The air is dry, and the space is very dark. Shining their lamps, the stack can see another set of steps about 50 yards across the area. Raveesh points. "This way. We climb."

As they go to cross the chamber Adreeena whispers insistently to Raveesh

" Raveesh will the lamps not alert our presence to any guards ? "

Sing scowls. "If there are no guards down here, then what harm would casting spells do? Are they alert for magic in some way?"

"My tribe are the Grey Cliff Bits. We have mined these rocks for ages past. Until the hoomans came, and built their cities, we were free and mostly happy. Now most of my kin are "allied" to the Quelshers. A few of us remain true to the old ways, living off what we dig out of the stone, or what we can make and sell."

"If you want to cast a spell, I will not stop you. It was your stackmates who told you to stop."

"I am leading you through these mines and tunnels to the underzone of Castria. Where else do you wish to go? Jax hired me to get you into the city. Have I misunderstood the mission?"

Sing nods, and raises an eyebrow at Adreeena. "I assume you'll allow our floaty friend here to make another attempt without interruption this time? Unguarded and devoid of enemies are two different things, after all." Sing turns to Toothry, "If you would be so kind, please check for enemies periodically." (If necessary, Sing will use Persuasion to counter Adreeena's Persuasion.)

Adreena shrugs
"He can cast when he likes. I just didn't see the point in casting when obviously our guide had come that way. I don't know how often you're able to cast, Count, but don't see the point in wasting attempts."

" Raveesh, when do you expect to encounter guards ? "

"Guards? Not in this hex. There's nothing in this hex except the occasional..."

Raveesh stops and cocks his head, listening intently.

"Uh oh."
