Hmm... I'll either begin speaking with a side this turn or Combat will be joined. (I'm assuming that talking is a free action so that if I debate with a side I'm adjacent to the turn doesn't end until I decide whether or not I'm advancing into their hex or not.

Ok, that last turn took a bit extra organising.

We are back to the "top of the pops", which means acorntail is up.

Hey, you know how the Revolution will not televised?

Some things need to be public. Like significant battles. Like this one.

The hex is an ordinary light grass hex, like the many you've all encountered.

In the hex stands :
1 Ruler (The Unifier)
8 Creepers (Stabbers)
3 Spineling (Ranged)

The Unifier has attempted to initiate diplomatic relations with the folks across the hex border. They've had a pleasant chat about this and that, but then a song starts:
(words by Acorntail)
(to the tune of "In the hall of mountain King", I presume)

"Your Butt Is Mine
Gonna Take You Right
Just Show Your Face
In Broad Daylight
I'm Telling You
On How I Feel
Gonna Hurt Your Mind
Don't Shoot To Kill
Come On, Come On,
Lay It On Me All Right...

I'm Giving You
On Count Of Three
To Show Your Stuff
Or Let It Be . . .
I'm Telling You
Just Watch Your Mouth
I Know Your Game
What You're About

Well They Say The Sky's
The Limit
And To Me That's Really True
But My Friend You Have
Seen Nothing
Just Wait 'Til I Get Through . . .

Because I'm Bad."

"... Let's dance, creepers."

Into the hex from two directions come a whole bunch of beegees.

2 Warlords
40 Boogiers (Stabbers)
9 Bowies (Ranged)

(Combat results incoming)

Some numbers and stuff:
Spoiler: show
Ranged, Phase 1

Spinelings fire: 2 hits
BG's defence: 0 saved 2 wounds taken

Bowies Fire: 2 hits
Creepers defence: 1 saved 1 wounds taken

Melee, Phase 1

Creepers & Ruler fight: 3 hits
BG's defence: 1 saved 2 wounds taken

Boogiers and Warlords 11 hits
Creepers defence: 3 saved 8 wounds taken

Ranged, Phase 2

Spinelings fire: 0 hits
BG's defence: 0 saved 0 wounds taken

Bowies Fire: 1 hits
Creepers defence: 0 saved 1 wounds taken

Melee, Phase 2

Creepers & Ruler fight: 2 hits
BG's defence: 0 saved 2 wounds taken

Boogiers and Warlords 13 hits
Creepers defence: 2 saved 11 wounds taken

Ranged, Phase 3

Spinelings fire: 2 hits
BG's defence: 1 saved 1 wounds taken

Bowies Fire: 3 hits
Creepers defence: 2 saved 1 wounds taken

Melee, Phase 3

Creepers & Ruler fight: 5 hits
BG's defence: 0 saved 5 wounds taken

Boogiers and Warlords 12 hits
Creepers defence: 3 saved 9 wounds taken

And that's enough. The Creeper force is eliminated, with 6 Boogiers killed.

The Creepers are vicious - they are clearly better at hand to hand and ranged attacks than the Boogiers, but the boogiers just have overwhelming numbers (4 to 1), and that extra leadership bonus certainly helps.

The Unifier is the last to croak, his spines and claws clacking in defiance, but all for nought.

The BeeGee's will no doubt launch into a victory dance with much high-fiving and moon-walking.

Not quite. The BeeGees will dance for victory, but now, they dance to remember the fallen, from both sides. Mostly the croaked Boogiers, but even their enemies deserve a farewell dance. A solemn one, with only marginal thrusting.
Perpetually locked in a Mathamancy/Turnamancy link.

Waiting on a response from one player, but otherwise the turn is complete.

I've got a busy weekend, so might not process again until monday - or Sunday afternoon, GMT +10.

Cheer!

Wow... well so much for diplomacy... I mean... damn...

That was probably the shortest game I've ever played on here not counting games that go dead (actually those even usually last at least a week)

That's one way to solve your empty spot issue

It's almost as if you didn't even NEED the spot filled considering how that ended

Edit: Grudge, what grudge? I don't hold grudges...

What would it have cost to designate an heir anyway? I basically was told to create a side and then asked to give orders which I had no clue wtf I was doing there... Couldn't you have just started me fresh somewhere away from everyone else?

To be fair, you did threaten to consume him.

This game is mostly a test-run to see how things work out for next time... whenever that is.
I won't be adding in any more players or sides at this stage.

Thanks for playing!
