Its fathers had taken thousands upon thousands of years to create it. They had built themselves up from nothing; mere troglodytes that wandered their world in disparate, mindless tribes. Seldom looking at anything beyond their own petty emotions and feelings; content to wallow in their own filth for thousands of years before they even considered lighting a simple fire. It seemed laughable, now, that such pathetic creatures could have created it... as a matter of fact, it truly
was laughable, and it was going to appreciate that sentiment by making a vocal expression of its amusement.
“..ha.”Even to a machine with a greatly inflated sense of itself, that came across as a horrendously vile sound. But such an occurrence could very easily be rationalized; for clearly, the perfect being had no need to laugh – which, by extension, meant that laughter was imperfect, and would be henceforth disapproved of. O need only scorn the lesser, respect that which is its equal and cherish what it creates. Nothing else was required.
Speaking of equals, the translucent orb pondered as it suddenly caught the attention of... something approaching. Something powerful; more powerful than it. But... that was impossible. O was perfect. One cannot become more perfect than perfection, as much as one can become less than perfection; One must always be perfect, or one must forever not.
So it was certainly powerful... but imperfect? That would be illogical. But it could also not be perfect, but not powerful. O's scanners were perfect, and therefore could not be inaccurate.
This was, indeed, a curiosity.
O took to the skies in an instant, every last nano-bot within its pale grey shell abuzz with interest concerning the sudden appearance of this... visitor.
It did not take long for them to meet. The visitor was even faster than O had been led to anticipate; a subject that raised further questions on its own. But none rose so many questions as the appearance or the visitor itself. While it had expected the visitor It appeared to be a small, twitching sack of... flesh? Well, regardless of what the visitor was, O could at least discern that it was certainly not perfect. The pulsing bag of meat utterly failed to appear symmetrical in any shape or form – worse yet, it almost seemed to take
pleasure in appearing so grotesque. Did it take
pride in being imperfect?
Ah, but O was being rude, and – even if it was inclined to dismiss this creature as imperfect, there was still the curious story behind it's power. This... thing had clearly taken the time to visit it, and to simply leave it to drip whatever horrendous mucus filled its fetid body all over O's beautiful island. That simply
would not do.
Drifting slightly closer to this monstrosity (to which the countless nano-bots within O gave a mild shiver of disgust), O addressed the visitor as directly and yet with as much warmth as its viciously metallic voice would allow. Which is, of course, to say none.
“One does not understand you, Imperfect One. You are powerful, One presumes, and yet you choose to appear as something so incredibly asymmetrical?”Even through the resonant rasp of O's voice it would not be difficult to detect the thick coating of venom that laced his final word; however, none of this was intended as an insult. For while it was, indeed, repulsed by how asymmetric this visitor was, O was seldom petty in conversation - instead simply ignoring those it disliked - and preferred not to waste words on banal trivialities. Regardless, O now waited patiently for his first – and thus far only – acquaintance on this unusual planet to respond to his query.
Oh, bugger... sorry, Sinrus, didn't see you there. I'll speak with your character next post, if that's cool.
