New Erf: Titanic Involvement

Postby thetobias » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:27 pm

This will give the GMs in New Erf (AKA Erfgame revived) something to do.

The Titans will not be bound by turns, but gain motes every week and can plan their actions in real time (their titans after all).

Besides GMing Titans will do several things:
1) they will create the world during the first two weeks
2) after that they will use the mortal races in their world to become the most powerful Titan

There are some restrictions,
1) Titans can not influence terrain controlled by an opposing Titan
2) Titans will be bound by their own laws and can if a Titan starts messing around the other Titans will be able to Banhammer him,

How do Titans use other sides?
1) Titans get divine rank based upon the amount of cities their controlled sides have
2) Titans will "control" the sides they are gming for

Note: If it turns out this Titanic involvement ruins the game for the sides the system will get kicked out, it is merely a test which could add a fun dimension to the game.

Here are the titanic rules, they are not done yet and require a lot of tinkering, but they're good enough to start world building with.

The document appears to require express permission to view. I tried to view it as frednieman@gmail.com, which is how it (hopefully) will be requested.

Okay, that one works.

Question: "Hypothetically," if all the players teamed up and started attacking the Titans, could we establish a new world order, free from divine intervention? "Gott ist tot," and all that?

No, because the gods reside in Arcadia and mortals can't get there.
However you can keep trying to kick us out of your world if we decide to manifest.

Hypothetically tho: a yet unknown trimancer link can cause teleportation to Arcadia. I'm not gonna tell you which one tho... ;)

Do titans also control a side?

If so, can a side eventually become powerful enough to create a titan?

Does all sides have to have a titan, since they run the turn?

How big is the map going to be, or are you going to make it ever expanding?

How are titanic items different than times created with fabrication?

Ooh, this one I think I can answer. The titanic items increase the Titan's stats, so I'd guess that only the ones that provide fluff would be hidden on Erf. After all, mere mortals don't have Power, Perception, or Paradox.

@Herbie:
1. No, not directly, they leach power from their followers (their divine rank increases as their protected cities level)
2. Yes, a player could decide he wanted to "ascend" its up to the other Titans to allow this though. This player forfeits his Side and becomes a GM.
3. No, they have a ruler.
4. We're not sure yet, that depends on the amount of players. Also Titans can keep changing the map if they feel like it so that mountain could well be a sea spot next turn :P.
5. They're well.. more powerful... @nihilas response, the numbercrunch items could also be given to mortals and would make one of their units very strong. Remember that Titans don't have infinite items and will guard theirs jealously. (also to give an item you must drop it in a hex where any unit can find it)

*bump*

We're going to need one more active Titan to get the game running.
