Erfworld Cards

There was some discussion in the IRC channel about making a deck of Erfworld playing cards. So, here's the plan. I'd like to get all of you talented artistic types to make up artwork for these cards. If there's anything you think should be changed, please say so. Otherwise, what we have here is good. If enough people chip in artwork, we can put them all together so that anyone who wants to can print them off. The suit symbols I wrote down are what I think could be easily stylized to look like the regular suit symbols. Those are probably first priority. Anyone who is interested in helping out, please say so.

This sounds like a fun project. I might be up for a contribution or two.

Edit: I might suggest changes to some of the suits though. Like I would suggest Jetstone be raddish/hearts since their radish crest is red and generally heart-shaped. And maybe GK could be gems/diamonds since they are so rich. Maybe Wanda's crew could be clubs since she has that pink flower in her crest? I don't know. But I think the GK and Jetstone suggestions hold at least some weight.

Yeah, I guess I just wanted to include Charlie's Archons somehow, so I figured since they were working for FAQ I'd put them there and have Charlie as the Ace up their sleave... Also liked the idea of keeping Jillian as Queen even though it made Wanda King, but I guess I could have easilly put Banhammer in as King and wanda further down while only having one type of Archon.

Really, if you skip the whole Spades, Diamonds, Hearts, Clubs themes, then you could have more than four themes. So you'd have one for each group and even be able to double up on some of the characters, putting Wanda in with GK, FAQ and maybe a dedicated DECRYPTED set.

You look at the Devil's panties and they're selling about three different playing card sets so who says you even need to keep it to one.

Honestly, I prefer the set that doesn't give Wanda her own suit. Sure, decrypted are nifty, but, they also work for GK. Like it or not, Wanda fights for Stanley

I think this would be a relatively easy project for Rob to throw together with Xin (might slow down the flow of wallpaper, but that seems like a small price to pay) that would bring in some decent cash. I would totally buy a few sets. It wouldn't even have to be original artwork, for some of it, just appropriately reused panels.

Ace = Chief Warlord
King = the Ruler
Queen = Highest ranking woman (or similar)
Jack = Highest ranking man
10 = Capital
After that, princes, casters, named characters, then creatures.
3 = Most common unit
2 = Mounts

I would switch Jetstone and Gobwin Knob. Jetstone's radish IS the spade, and Gobwin Knob has dug up plenty of diamonds.

I'd suggest that you don't try to map the factions one-to-one against the traditional suits at all. Also, the front page banner has great symbols for all four factions (which it may not have had when the thread was started, I wasn't here back then).


I personally don't care for face cards other than the traditional three and maybe the ace, so here's what I'd suggest:

Jetstone - Raddish - Puce

Q: Artemis (the archer warlord from the text updates)

The colors listed are for card numbers/letters. The numbered cards get multiples of the symbol just like traditional cards, but if you really want them to represent something I recommend a background picture of a unit. You can use the same unit for multiple levels too, so for instance:

8-9: Unipegitaur
6-7: Archers
4-5: Stabbers
3: Marbits
2: Orlies
