This conversation only needs to occur once.

Spoiler: show
Raigne says:
Also.
My reaction upon getting in a car accident a year ago...
Huh. Accident. *gets out the the car, calls the police, looks at the other driver up ahead, gets friend's insurance info and exchanges it with other driver, starts snapping pictures of the accident site, both cars and the nearby signs*
Also, you've already made me break character because I can't drive
Feeling around for my cell phone would probably come first. Then I'd feel the snow and think... was it snowing when the accident happened?
Daniel says:
Well, aparently you CANT drive.
You killed everyone. Good job, maria.
>:/
Raigne says:
I have no license. I take the bus or bum a ride.
Daniel says:
Today, you stole a car. :/
Raigne says:
I never steal. I am honest.
Daniel says:
Uppity paladins.
Raigne says:
Well. Usually. When I'm not holding a grudge.
I suppose if I needed it I would.
Daniel says:
Do you remember the man? The man who asked us to save his house from the robbers? What the hell did he do to you? D:
You looted everything.
;[
Raigne says:
Well. We needed it. To help save the town.
Daniel says:
I could've saved the town without it. ;[
<---- LAWFUL good.
Raigne says:
He was hiding in his house letting everyone die on his doorstep, the bastard.
He deserved it, the coward.
Daniel says:
I'm talking about that guy in the port town who has brigands in his house.
I HEAR SOUNDS INSIDE MY HOUSE! PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND DONT STEAL MY STUFF.
Raigne says:
I'm a little fuzzy on what you're referring to.
Daniel says:
NWN2.
CHAOTIC good.
Raigne says:
Yeah.. but... oooooh! That guy! He was a prick.
Daniel says:
;[
Raigne says:
He totally wasn't going to pay us for the help, I don't like people looking down their nose at me.
I wouldn't steal a car though. For one, I don't know how to hit wire a car. I could learn easily, but 2, I value my safety and don't drive because I don't trust myself not to crash into a mailbox or swerve into on coming traffic.
Clearly my fears were justified.
Daniel says:
Someone spiked your punch at work, and you learned how to hotwire from a book.
Raigne says:
Why would there be punch at work?
Daniel says:
AND THE GUY WHOSE CAR IT WAS.. Was a JERK!
Because!
It was party day! Everyone is partying! D:
Raigne says:
And you never answered my question, why is a copy editor working at the top of a mountain? We work from home. We get mailed manuscripts, we correct them, we send them back.
Daniel says:
Because, you were making a house call for a friend because her fax broke and she wanted to play some twister while you were over.

Raigne says:
I live in a city, even if I had to commute, no way would it be to the southern tier, which is where the nearest mountains are, that's a two hour drive.
Daniel says:
Your friend lives in the mountains. The twister one.
Raigne says:
I don't have friends in the mountains. I also hate twister.
Daniel says:
She diddn't know that, and yes you do. The virginia guild.
Raigne says:
My dexterity is mostly of the manual variety, not the graceful, catlike movement variety.
They live outside DC.
No mountains.
Daniel says:
yes.
It was a very long house call.
Raigne says:
No.
Nope.
Daniel says:
YES! Yes it was!
I don't know what kind of house calls involve going from state to state, but I'd certainly call that long.
Raigne says:
Those friends work with computers. They wouldn't need me to fix their fax.
I don't even think they have a fax.
Daniel says:
You're not fixing their fax, you're editing their copies.
Raigne says:
They'd email them to me.
Daniel says:
Their computer broke after they printed it out. It's an emergency and all they have are cell phones.
Raigne says:
Do you have any idea how many computers JT has?
Daniel says:
He broke them all.
Raigne says:
He's got three desktops, a server and 5 laptops.
And Dan is a sys admin, so he's fix them if they broke.
Daniel says:
hurricane season in virginia. Laptops are naturally shaped like birds, and the first to get picked up and carried away.
Raigne says:
he'd*
You're not even trying to be plausible now, are you?
Daniel says:
What? Of course I am.
;
This is SOOOO going in the reactions thread.
Raigne says:
xD
The whole thing?
Daniel says:
Not the whole thing. Just the part where you start debating you driving.

First thought: instead of rolling you could have picked a "what DND character are you" test that you like and let us do that ;)
That'd be A LOT more like playing ourselves than just rolling... Having said that, I'm off to the roll.

Nitpick. Nitpick. Nitpick. ;p If I'd told you to use such a test, it'd have ruined the surprise. I'm not sure how cliche such a game is perceived as by each of my players in it.. but I don't watch my television and I've not been in a ton of games, myself. But I just found the idea novel and interesting..

Edit: wording.

Of course. Were you expecting something else?

If I'd told you to use such a test, it'd have ruined the surprise.

I'm not sure why some people think that a surprise is a good thing in itself. I don't mind though.

I'm not sure how cliche such a game is perceived as by each of my players in it.. but I don't watch my television and I've not been in a ton of games, myself. But I just found the idea novel and interesting..

- Playing 'yourself' - one cliche point
- ...without amnesia - one not cliche point
- Not starting in a caravan/tavern - two not cliche points
- Not waking up in a question-filled pile with the other PCs - one not cliche point

So I'd say we're on the safe side with only 20% cliche ;)

Phew. D: wait that's 25 percent cliche. Oh. No. Wait. The lack of tavern brought me 2 points. Okay. 20 percent.

OH YEAH!

Just wanted to remind yall: Keeping in mind that you are you, it is NOT breaking character to know everything you do about D&D. Even understanding, (Given enough evidence..) that you're in a D&D based setting is not breaking character, either. However, due to the strangeness of the previous, one may also believe they're dreaming.

Have the first quest be something other than killing rats/beetles/goblins in a basement/cave and you get more not cliche points :P

And you'd have a hard time convincing me that I wasn't dreaming. (Do I refer to myself in third person OOC? That seems like it'd be weird...) I'm too logical for that. On the other hand, you'll see Raigne taking risks she wouldn't usually take and acting in ways she'd normally be too timid to act since she's pretty convinced that you're all in her head anyway.

ETA: This will be an interesting exploration of solipsism. :|

. . .I wonder if I 'can' use all the points form a 32 point buy for my own personal stats...

With my close RL friends when a game like this took place, after a couple of months in game I finally learned what my actual class was based on activities-etc, until then we were just gaining the occassional note in our feats section designated by the DM, or additional skill points. It was funny that I ended up as 'cleric' in a group (since we determined I had 11 wisdom which I called bull shit on, but we were all majorly harsh about eachothers stats it was a ripping good time XD) where everyone just fell into 'Fighter 1', 'fighter 2', 'fighter 3'; I believe it was because we had different priorities in this situation. Later we got a wizard and an artificer, who were being played at different times and we finally managed to merge the two groups into one party. But you can feel how odd it is being the guy that sighs while reading medical text books to try and figure out how to actually perform surgery and real major acts of healing without magic, whilst carrying the huge load of medical supplies while everyone else is boasting about bad ass they are.

I almost had a moment where I dropped in alignment; one of the party was dangling by a dislocated arm from broken stonework, everyone else had run ahead but I was able to turn around in time to get to him. He had been rude to me the entire adventure and he's probably the lowest of my friend scale in truth, I was half tempted to say "Oh dear, let me help you. . . Cur~ INFLICT CRITICAL WOUNDS!" onto his outstretched hand as he begged for help. But then I remembered im not that kind of person and hauled him up, bound his arm in a sling-gave him a slap on the injured shoulder to satisfy myself and sent him on his way without a healing. XD

I was concerned about spending all the points too, but Muth said put them how you think they should be and if there are some left over, stick them somewhere. So if you have to lie a little to spend them all it's fine, but if there's something you know is really part of you, keep it in there. Like, I made my intelligence 16 instead of 18 because I'm very smart, but I know I'm not a genius. I also made my charisma 8, because I know being a know-it-all also rubs people the wrong way, and most people tell me they thought I was going to be a snob when they first met me. Eventually they figure out that I'm a nice person, just a little tactless and very matter-of-fact. I.E. I'll eventually succeed on the roll, just maybe not the second or third time, so it's only an 8 and not lower. My dexterity and wisdom ended up being a little higher than they probably actually are, in an effort to spend the rest of my points, but I refused to raise either intelligence or charisma because those are two characteristics that make up a lot of my personality.

Sorry, I woke up and went :O and then off to work, had lunch with a girl, yadda yadda... gotta figure out my stats and then figure out if Warforged feel cold, and in what sense, etc. so I can properly RP the sensation of such a huge body change...

just worked my stats with Muth so i'll be posting in a sec.

Ok, posted. Im already liking this. Not sure whether to go the amnesia route or full-force denial route but i dont think i'll do either i think amnesia is a bit too cliched (and too hard if im the only one doing it) and we have one preson thinking this is a dream. I think i'll limit the amount of what would normally be called 'metagame thinking' I do as it'll just complicate things and i'd urge you others to as well but it's up to you.

M

EDIT: Muth says no cross. it's a unicorn pendant of Ehlonna. but as far as i can tell in my shocked/half frozen state to me it's a cross. minor detail. but as they say the devil is in the detail.

DAMNIT! That would have been pretty damn awesome. I would have been a rogue and taken skill focus hide to blend into stonework. XD
