Battle for Gobwin Bump V

Postby LTDave » Wed May 02, 2012 7:16 am

"Oh good, you're here."
A blonde commander stands before you.

Image

"Just popped, hey? Well, never mind. The anxiety is normal. Which is to say you'll get used to it - it doesn't go away. It's called life..."

"But enough philosophy. You're here. You've been popped, and not before time. The Citadel is under threat. Dark forces are gathering, and blah blah blah. If you live long enough you'll learn that this is pretty much par for the course around here."

"Your stack is to hold this position as long as possible. Engage any enemies that appear. Stick together, you'll live longer. Or at least it will seem longer. I'll send a message when it is time to withdraw."

"We need to buy enough time for our Overlord to complete his necessary work. Fight hard, and try not to get killed."

Dibs on the Halberd guy. That one. No, the other. The one near chess-sword guy.

*!!mindmeld!!*

I open my eyes. The popping made them a bit fuzzy, but I try to clean them and look around, looking for places and things to defend against.

Ok.

So, yeah, BLAND has got the idea. Pick a character, work out what you want to do, and give some orders. I will try to process a turn every 24 to 48 hours...

You want rules? Yeah, don't we all. The battle against chaos is universal. More will come to light as we go along. Feel free to ask questions - I'll attempt to answer them.

Spoiler: show
This was written while I'm watching the Futurama episode where Fry writes an Opera. Classic. So the post probably doesn't make a lot of sense.

And yeah, let's see who else joins before I get too much ahead of myself. Right now I'm just a lowly Piker.

Huh, I realized I may improve my survival chances if I pick a name. Ok, how about Ian Marius Stanley.

"Fireball Pronto"
Sadly, that didn't work.

The "Wizard" with no name is a lowly Blue Caster. He has "Heal Minor Wounds" and "Zap!"
Both these spells require him to touch the target.
He also has "Shock Dart", which has the same range as a bow.
Something tells the Caster that he can only use one spell per phase.

We need someone to take an archer. Hopefully they've got arrows.

Just how well armoured am I?

Gotta pay the bills somehow.

Looking down, Ian notes that his breastplate and other armour gives +2 to his Defence value. Added to his inherent value, Ian (and the other Pikemen) has a total Defence Value of 4.

The Archers stare blankly, their personalities not yet clicking in.
But you know that the bows add nothing to the Combat value except range. These archers have a Combat value of 2 + 0 (RNG) = 2 (RNG)

I'll take the knight in heavy armor. Never hurts to be the person capable of sucking up the most damage. (Name of Alex)

Can I get my attack and def? I also need to know if my armor slows me down relative to the swordman/halbrediers.

I'll take the second archer, since he looks cooler.

Number2 blinked his eyes, as he heard the halbered guy yell his name. He had been in combat before, so he knew the tricks to survival. 2 quickly ran behind the halberedeer for cover and fired a shot at the green looking enemy down range.

I'll take the unclaimed guy with the sword with the pattern.

I glance around, put my visor down, and charge the opposing archers, screaming incoherently at the top of my lungs, sword raised high in the air.

The Knight, Alex, checks his own stats - his movement is slower than the others, but that only affects the number of hexes he can move in a turn. It will not effect his movement within a given hex...
He has the best of the Armour, giving +4 to Defence. Alex has a net defence of 6.
The Sword adds +2 to Combat, bringing the total to 4.

Archer 2 has never been in combat before - she has just popped this turn. Looking down, Two notices her curvaceous armour.

The Warrior hefts his sword and runs towards the enemy, wondering who he is and why he is here...

Thanks for signing up. The first phase (I can't say turn, since everything that is going to happen here will happen in one Erfworld Turn) will be coming to a close in about 13 hours from this post, that is, 8pm Australia Eastern Time. Keep asking Questions - I'll try to log on through the day to reply.

"LLllleeeeeeerrroooooooyyyy NOOOOOOO!!1123" I feel compelled to yell for some reason.

Right-o, so we let loose one arrow against them, and Chess Sword Guy is charging. I should wait for outcomes to that, but right now I'm feeling as if I'm doing my duty by ducking and providing a shield for Two's curvaceous figure.
