I certainly didn't. But he's too late to save Parson now.

I doubt it. The cliffhanger of that ending implies otherwise.

It could be that this is the counterpoint to the volcano uncroaking...Parson's genius fails him and it takes his friends to save his ass. Kinda like The Empire Strikes Back and the principle that defeat can be as compelling as victory.

Well, it's likely that Maggie is either out of juice entirely, or Charlie is blocking her entirely. Same difference, either way.

However, why isn't she back through the portal? If she was incapacitated, Stanley would know. So it is also likely that the Predictamancers have told her to remain, so she can go through the portal after it switches along with Sizemore and Wanda.

I loved this update, but I don't believe that it's really a portal to a clean wrap up of this book.

I could go on and on with theories of how it's going to play out, but I'm just going to go back and read it again for the feels.

What this update is suggesting is that GK might lose its access to the MK if Parson and Stanley enact separate actions at the same time.

Does the Arkenhammer have a whistle in it? I never noticed that before.

After being almost completely quiet for the whole time Stanley was in the larger, Zhopa has gotten quite talkative. He's saying just the right things to nudge Stanley. Such a simple-minded creature would be easy for the GTTMA to puppeteer, so perhaps that is what's happening. In a larger sense, the same could be said for Stanley, himself.

maybe that will be the fix. Stanley decides he can't change the capital and gives parson his own side.

Using his Ruler sense, he gave her an order to contact him, and waited.

Emphasis added.

I think this puts an end to the question of whether Chief Warlords can give Natural Thinkamancy orders to distant units.

Why isn't she back? Well... you know... this way to the egress.....

Yeah, I was thinking about something in the Parson / Charlie exchange last week. Parson can't start his own side there by splitting off because there's Gobwin Knob units there.... but there's even a way around that, one that doesn't even involve croaking them. Maybe Stanley could order them to turn to Parson's side. Except they're also loyal to Wanda... or maybe there's some self will going on in the heads of the Decrypted and they could turn of their own volition as Ossomer did...

That's also another aspect of being a Perfect Warlord -- getting people to "buy in" on your orders.

If Stanley changed capitols, and lets ignore the summoning spell for a minute, would Parson hypothetically be able to still use the city to spin off? What would that mean for GK and Stanley?

Anyway, I like the idea of Parson being leader of his own side, Stanley teaching him how to be an overlord, and Sizemore and Antium being his chief caster and chief warlord respectively.

It's too early for that. Parson won't get his own side. He probably will never get his own side.

Though I enjoy the idea of giving Decrypted their own side.
