Sand Witch is a homophone of Sandwich.

Since they are controlled by Dagwood, this may be a reference to the giant sandwiches created by the comic character Dagwood.

The Sand Whitches pay homage to an chief known as "the Earl." Since the Witches are a non-capital side, use of this rank is likely an affectation, rather than a formal title.

If the "Sand" portion of their name is intended literally, thier natural magic could represent Natural Dirtamancy.
