[edit] Proposed Canon

One of the Arkentools. They were known to have been attuned to Judy Gale of the Haffaton Side. The Arkenshoes give the attuned wielder unlimited move and even the power to teleport their user to wherever it is that they consider "home".

When used by Judy Gale to return home, the magic items she was carrying were left behind and fell to the floor, but the Arkenshoes disappeared with her.

[edit] Speculation

Of the known Arkentools, the Arkenshoes are the only one that consists of a pair of items (at least in the sense that they are two physically separable objects used together). Whether there is any significance to this is unknown. It is interesting to note that all of the Arkentools have some aspect of duality: the Arkenshoes and Arkenpliers are both pairs (under two different meanings of the word), the Arkenhammer is a two-headed hammer, and the Arkendish has two faces.

Their power over movement and location might be connected to Weirdomancy or Hat Magic. Alternatively, keeping in line with fan speculation that all Arkentools are related to Fate aligned disciplines, it might be connected to Dollamancy, the Fate axis discipline consisting solely of Motion. This would be fitting in with Wanda's talk about how she doesn't have the sheer Dollamancy required to make anything like the Arkenshoes. It might have an additional connection to Dittomancy, in the form of an infinite duplication of a unit's move.

In the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy decided to return home, the Silver Shoes came off over the desert border, because they only held power in fairy lands like Oz and couldn't enter the mundane world. It is very likely that there was a similar effect on the Arkenshoes when Judy Gale returned to her own world. As such, it wouldn't be surprising if the Arkenshoes ended up in a desert hex at the edge of Erfworld. Alternatively, in one of the movie adaptations, the shoes fell into the hands of the gnome king, so it is also possible that some sort of gnomish natural ally has them.

[edit] Real World References

The shoes are a reference to the Silver Shoes once worn by the wicked witch of the East and given to Dorothy in the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The fact that the Arkenshoes are red as opposed to silver is a reference to the 1939 movie adaptation, in which they are called the Ruby Slippers instead.
