Proposed Canon

Gobwins are a non-capital sideErf-b1-p079aSame-site.PNG and are Natural Allies to Gobwin Knob. They are about half the height of Men, have green skin, and fangs. The Erfwiki mascot (look in the upper-left of the window) is a gobwin spearman.

Gobwin infantry units have a significant bonus for tunnel fighting.Erf-b1-p029Same-site.PNG

Any side with Gobwin allies will be unable to ally with Marbits or Elves.

Diplomacy

During the Battle for Gobwin Knob Gobwins were allied with Gobwin Knob and constituted a significant part of its forces.Erf-b1-p077aSame-site.PNG

Prior to the reign of Stanley the Tool, Gobwins broke alliance with Gobwin Knob (which is not typical behavior for Natural Allies) captured the City and croaked King Saline IV.Erf-b1-p079Same-site.PNG Stanley, who was a Heir Designate and Chief Warlord to Saline, then recaptured the city, and has been the Overlord ever since. Ansom believed that Stanley orchestrated this rebellion to come to powerErf-b1-p034Same-site.PNG; however, he lacked evidence for the accusation.

Speculation

The Gobwin Insurrection, occuring after Wanda betrayed Faq and swore allegience to Stanley, was possibly orchestrated by Wanda alone. Where Stanley would have been controlled by Duty and disallowed from plotting against King Saline IV, Wanda had weak Loyalty and may simply have suggested Stanley take certain important Casters on a mission she had created. The Gobwins, manipulated by Wanda into believing they could hold the city by Suggestion Spells and/or more mundane methods, attacked the city and killed Saline. Stanley then returns to recapture the city with complete deniability, and no direct knowledge of Wanda's participation in the affair; thus, Loyalty, Duty, and Obedience are satisfied while Stanley takes command of Gobwin Knob.

Also, Wanda is more likely than Stanley to have the strategic thinking to pull off a maneuver like this. Wanda may have desired a leader who was more easily swayed when she still desired to attune to an Arkentool.

Gobwin Knob lost its contingent of Gobwins in the Volcano Uncroaking and is currently unable to recruit any more since they seem not to be popping in that area at present. Lord Hamster suspects that Charlescomm may have a hand in this...

With this new information another plausible senario for the goblin revolt is that Charlescomm may have been behind it in order to force a change in leadership and drum up some new business.
