| Parson digs through a box of multi-colored figurines that rests on the long planning table, covered in large maroon hexes, dominated by a model of Spacerock, a huge hexagonal wall surrounding an area four hexes wide and five tall, itself dominated by a big gray box with a thin rectangular tower coming out of it, settled on two half-hexes just off to the left of center. Small figures fill the city, with blue all around the walls, with yellow mixed in and in a sort of north/south axis coming off both sides of the garrison, and a cluster of red flying ones in one hex just off the garrison, led by a light-colored one, white or pink. Maggie stands nearby, resting her left hand on the table; a purse hangs from that shoulder. | [edit] |
| Parson Gotti: You know how I felt about this job, Maggie. | [edit] |
| Parson has withdrawn a white, somewhat pope-shaped figure bearing a sword. Maggie stands just off his left. | [edit] |
|
Parson Gotti: 'Bout playing this like it's a game. Maggie: I do. | [edit] |
| Parson holds the white figure out at Maggie. The box he leans on is filled with multicolored figurines, including a pink dwagon. | [edit] |
| Parson Gotti: These are people. | [edit] |
| Parson regards the white figurine in his hand while Maggie stands before him, hands clasped demurely in front of her. | [edit] |
| No text. | [edit] |
| Parson sets the white figurine on the edge of the table, just off the hex grid. | [edit] |
| Parson Gotti: This one can be me. | [edit] |
| In the foreground, the white figurine can be made out; it wears white armor set off by the same black and maroon that Gobwin Knob uses. In the midground, the table with the model city is visible; a few figurines rest on the tower, with one white or pink; at the lead of the red flyers in the hex opposite them, are a white and purple. In the background, Parson has turned his back on the planning table; Maggie reaches out a hand to him. | [edit] |
|
Parson Gotti: C'mon. Maggie: Lord? Where...? Parson Gotti: Armory. | [edit] |
| A giant, glowing, rainbow prism floats in an inky blackness.[1] | [edit] |
|
Charlie: It's really an unexpected pleasure, Your Highness. How can I be of service? | [edit] |
| Prince Tramennis stands bathed in a white light, surrounded by darkness. | [edit] |
|
Prince Tramennis: Well, Overlord... that's quite a remarkable question, isn't it? Coming from you? | [edit] |
| Tramennis stands in the shaft of light, dropping his gaze sullenly. The rainbow prism has changed; it is now a two-dimensional shape, a three-banded rainbow, consisting of drab orange over cream over blue, ending in a five-pointed orange star.[2] | [edit] |
|
Charlie: Not at all! And just "Charlie," if you don't mind. Prince Tramennis: Very well. | [edit] |
| Tramennis looks on as the rainbow changes again; now much more detailed, the rainbow extends much further, is brighter, and adds purple and pink bands to its top, and now ends in a cluster of three white fluffy clouds, with shooting star rainbows shooting out of them at various points. On one cloud sits a small, impish representation of King Slately; it has his robes, crown, and beard, but has a cat ear and is smiling. | [edit] |
|
Charlie: Highness, it is only a deep and unfortunate misunderstanding which has kept us from doing business of late. Charlescomm's neutrality has never waived! | [edit] |
| Tramennis smiles slyly in his shaft of light; the rainbow reflects off his armor; though in the natural colors rather than any of the three previous color groups. | [edit] |
|
Prince Tramennis: That's not strictly true, as I hear tell. I hear you've in fact been aiding Royal sides. | [edit] |
| The new rainbow is another shooting star, but now trailing a dust rainbow in orange, red, purple, blue, and green, and topped by three-dimensional purple and blue letters reading "The More You Know."[3] | [edit] |
|
Charlie: Do you? Ah. Well. The rumors which surround me are myriad, you know. Myth and legend, wild speculation, paranoid suspicions... | [edit] |
| Still bathed in white, with rainbow colors reflecting in his armor, Tramennis cocks an eyebrow at the new image; a white two dimensional design, consisting of a circular, sectioned map with two white continents, flanked by stylized olive branches, with a central word facing toward Tramennis; we see it in reverse, W-O-B-N-I-A, in colors purple, blue, indigo, green, yellow, and orange.[4] | [edit] |
|
Prince Tramennis: Furthermore, I hear you've been doing so free of charge. Perhaps even at your own expense? Charlie: Well now that's simply slander. | [edit] |
Notes

- ^ This is a reference to Rainbow Brite, a Hallmark Cards-turned-80s cartoon character.
- ^ This is a reference to the series of Emmy-winning Public Service Announcements run by NBC since 1989. The image has also become something of an meme, being parodied often in broadcast media and on the internet.
- ^ This is a reference to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six franchise. It is the emblem of Rainbow, a fictional international counter-terrorist force.[5]
