Known pairings are parings for which there nookie is directly implied by the characters or for which we have "Fade-to-black" evidence in the comic. IE: Wanda and Jillian

Possible is "It makes sense, but we have no real proof", Possible does not mean "It could be imagined that they had nookie". IE: Maggie and Sizemore they could fall under known pairings, but all we have is a throaway line that their linking was enjoyable for both of them
The following have no basis at all in the comic and should probably be removed unless they've been revealed.
***I suppose Jillian & Three-Edged fits under possible pairings, depending on how you interpret Jillian's monologue, but why were Ace & Cubbins and Olive & Wanda added back in? I've searched, and I can't find anything that even might imply that. How liberal a definition of "possible" are we using?--97.113.200.189 19:09, 17 April 2013 (EDT)
****OK - I totally forgot (or skipped over) that passage about three edged - apparently you CAN do that with a sword... 0_0! I can see Ace and Cubbins as speculation - but I don't agree there's a basis for Olive and Wanda implied anywhere... Still... After being proven wrong about three-edged, sorry for being an arse. On Erfworld, things which seem to have no practical function can perform a symbolic function. For example, Gobwin Knob has a "bank", which is simply an empty building. By occasionally stepping inside this "bank", Parson can "inspect" the "bank", which makes Gobwin Knob's economy more productive.

Since there is no pregnancy and there are no babies in Erfworld, heirs are popped, Nookie also seems to have no practical bearing on popping4047518. However, it may serve an important symbolic function. According to Parson's discussion with Maggie, it would seem that the technical act and, erm, "Tools" involved are much the same.
Speculation
While Nookie serves no biological functions, it may be considered to serve social functions like with bonobos.
It has also been speculated that it can influence the traits of a popped unit when an heir or noble unit is involved. Namely, Jillian and Vinny's involvement is speculated to have a bearing on the personality/temperament of the FAQ Heir currently in production.

Nookie could be a form of Natural Date-a-mancy. In addition to the aformentioned possible influence on heirs, the nature of the emotions involved with such an act could both build and destroy relationships, not only between individual units, but also sides. A study of who is (or is not) engaging in Nookie with whom and why may give a breakdown of relationships between units and how to use that against the units in question.

Analysis
There certainly appear to be real emotional attachments associated with these pairings, as evidenced by the complexities of the relationships between Wanda, Jillian, Ansom, and Vinny. However, it is unclear how deeply these emotional bonds run, and it may depend on the individual. That said, there have been multiple cases in which "love" and nookie coincide, and those conflicting emotions, particularly when combined with the ability of ruler, warlord and caster units to exercise freewill, may have changed the outcomes of engagements (Wanda not croaking Jillian at the Tower of Efdup, or Jillian's capturing Ansom at the Expository Bridge).

Possible Nookie Pairings
Jeftichew (as spelled by Queen Bea in First Intermission 43), or Jefftichew, also going by "Jojo" (as he introduces himself in LIAB 62), is a Carnymancer formerly in the service of Unaroyal, now residing in the Magic Kingdom. Jeftichew is also the caster hiding behind the Gobwin Knob portal when Parson Gotti enters the Magic Kingdom,2 and who confronts him in the tunnel excavated by Sizemore under Portal Park.2 Note that Jeftichew's white eye color is identical to Sylvia's, a former Unaroyal unit.

Before he was released to the Magic Kingdom by Queen Bea he pledged to work only for royal sides.

He was first seen in LIAB 57:9 next to the orange portal in the background when Sizemore encounters Janis and Marie, and in LIAB 57:13 he is looking back at the trio as they walk away. His next appearance was in LIAB 60 (LIAB 60:4, LIAB 60:7 and LIAB 60:8) where he is waiting behind Gobwin Knob's portal for Parson Gotti's second entrance to the Magic Kingdom. In LIAB 61 (LIAB 61:12 and LIAB 61:13) he is seen chasing Parson through the "underground passage" Sizemore created for Parson.

The earliest turn that he is seen is when he was involved in healing Sylvia when she, a level 1 stabber, was burnt in an city when they both were Unaroyal units. LIAB 86

Jeftichew appears to be working with someone to netrualize Parson Gotti, if so, the most likely candidate is Charlie.

While a caster, the extent of Jojo's Mojo is not yet clear, however it isn't trivial.

Real World References
Fedor Jeftichew was a 19th century circus sideshow performer, "Jojo the Dog-faced Boy," who moved to the United States to tour with P.T. Barnum at 16. Jeftichew the Carnymancer sports similar dress and facial hair (though Jefftichew's seems to be within the normal human range, rather than hypertrichosis).

Jeftichew wears something very like a uniform worn by George Harrison's "Sgt. Pepper" analog, such as seen in the movie Yellow Submarine. His use of the line "Here comes the sun" is a reference to the song of the same name on The Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road. The song was written by Harrison. The nickname "Jojo" may be a simultaneous reference both to the Barnum performer, who was known as Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Man, and the Beatles song "Get Back" about a man named Jojo.

Proposed Canon
Information
Rhyme-o-mancy is one of the three disciplines of the Magic class Stagemancy; it is aligned with the axis of Numbers and composed of all three elements of Life, Motion and Matter.1

*Tramennis has stated a relationship between Rhyme-o-mancy and music, which might imply a link to dance fighting.

Abilities
* Poetic Incantations can allow Casters to focus on their work, possibly aiding spells. However, the poem must both be clever and rhyme, otherwise the spell they are trying to cast may fail completely.

* Even Warlords can use Rhymes for various purposes, like morale or Dance Fighting, though this would be Natural Rhyme-o-mancy.

Known Rhyme-o-mancers
As of yet, no known Rhyme-o-mancer has been introduced.

Speculation
It appears that Warlords, Casters and (possibly) even regular troops are capable of using Natural Rhyme-o-mancy, though only a Caster who posesses that discipline may use the Real Deal.

There have been several apparent instances of Rhyme-o-mancy being used in the comic, though how many are Natural Rhyme-o-mancy, Genuine or even not Rhyme-o-mancy at all (but merely have the appearance of Rhyme-o-mancy) are a bit unclear.

* One apparent example of direct Rhyme-o-mancy, a short but complex poem on the subject of Transylvito, Don King, and Queen Jillian.2010 It describes the side's current situation, and casts the Don's recent actions negatively. But the final lines seem to indicate that the poem is actually a spell: "Perchance he enchants, he incants, he cancels the antsy with a rant in Rhyme-o-mancy." Based on that wording, we may speculate that this spell is intended to allay the fears of the Don's followers. If it "cancels the antsy" it may improve loyalty and morale, or at least stop negative gossip.

The poem is accompanied by a picture of Benjamin in the court of Transylvito, standing somewhat apart from the Don and his warlords. Benjamin is most likely a Moneymancer who has the ability to cast outside his discipline. It should be noted that Benjamin Franklin, whom Erfworld Benjamin physically resembles, was a noted polymath. His Rhyme-o-mancy abilities may partly explain why Transylvitian forces are generally good at dance fighting.

* Another possible example of Rhyme-o-mancy may be the rhyming that troops do during dance fighting. Dance fighting may be some form of Natural Stagemancy.

* The night before the final battle for Gobwin Knob, when the troops in the courtyard sing a song insulting Jetstone and Transylvito.1 It does not appear to have any direct magical effect; its only apparent effect seems to be angering Prince Ansom and many other coalition members. This may be a form of Natural Rhyme-o-mancy, as non-Casters are taking part.

* When Wanda attacks Ansom when he is alone on top of the wall. 1 She seems to be speaking mostly to herself--a personal call to arms, perhaps--but it may also be a form of intimidation, as the last line finishes just as she attacks Ansom.

* When Ace Hardware attacks the Decrypted Archons above Jetstone with a magic item he created for the purpose of capturing them. 2 Like Wanda, he seems mostly to be speaking to himself, and since he appears to be fighting alone, he's likely trying to give himself some sort of edge so that he can go up against the numerically superior foe and successfully capture one of them.

* In Inner Peace (Through Superior Firepower), when Wanda attempts to use Rhyme-a-Mancy when uncroaking Tommy Firebaugh. This may have helped to extend the amount of time before Tommy decayed.

* When Olive Branch uses a song as part of the spell to turn both the city of Haffaton and the city of Efbaum into no combat zones.

* If dance-fighting and music ARE related, then possible applications could be allowing Warlords to be popped/promoted with dance-fighting as an ability, making magic items that grant it, leading a dance fight themselves (possibly for a whole army or side while under a Thinkamancy link?). They might also be able to "Rock" as Stanley called it, though that would probably show up at higher levels of caster.

Due to its position on the Numbers Axis, and its association with Life, Motion, and Matter simultaneously, Rhyme-o-mancy could be an attempt to life up the underlying Numbers of Erfworld in a way that helps the Rhyme-o-mancer effect Life, Motion, and Matter in Erfworld. This would support how non-Rhyme-o-mancers try to use simple Rhymes (possibly a form of natural Rhyme-o-mancy) to positively affect their actions, through a proper alignment of the Numbers to create the desired effect on either Life, Motion, or Matter.

216.185.68.30: Added ability to disobey orders for the good of the side.

Proposed Canon
The Chief Warlord is the military leader of all Units of his Ruler's Side, and is subordinate to that Ruler alone. It is a military position and pinnacle of the command structure. There is only one Chief Warlord per Side. Chief Warlords are traditionally responsible for planning their sides strategy. However, this tradition is breaking down on both sides of the current conflict. Ansom, Caesar, and Duncan Scone have all recently found that their authority to plan strategy has been limited for various different reasons.

A Chief Warlord:
*commands all Units of his or her Side, excepting only the Ruler who is the highest authority of the Side and can overrule the Chief Warlord's orders.
*may end his or her Side's Turn but can be overruled by their Ruler.
*confers a Leadership Bonus to all Units in a City he or she occupies.1
*confers a partial (30%) Leadership Bonus to all Units in the same Side2009
*confers a halved (50%) Leadership Bonus to all Units in the same Hex.1
*confers a full (100%) Leadership Bonus to all Units in the same stack.1
*can claim a city for his or her Side.1
**This ability may not be unique to the Chief Warlord, it may be possible for any Warlord or Commander to claim city sites.
*is subject to Duty. (See below.)
*can form Alliances.1
*can promote Garrison units to field units.
*can accept the turning of an enemy unit. IPTSF Text 62
*can disobey a direct order of their ruler if their Duty compels them to act for the good of their side.IPTSF Text 63

A Chief Warlord cannot:
*set production for cities.1
**It is possible that Chief Warlords can set production but, like most of their decision making abilities, can be overruled by the Ruler.2009

Duty
Duty, a Natural Thinkamancy, has greatest effect on the Chief Warlord. This spell-like effect causes the Chief Warlord to use his or her initiative in the service of the Ruler. This also prevents the Chief Warlord from withholding information and prevents the Chief Warlord from conspiring against the Ruler, but as with all Thinkamancies, this is not a compulsion, so a Chief Warlord could betray the Ruler with a good enough reason. (See discussion page for arguments.)

Known Chief Warlords
Active Chief Warlords:
* Parson Gotti to Gobwin Knob
* Prince Tramennis to Jetstone
* Caesar Borgata to Transylvito
* Duncan Scone to Faq

Former Chief Warlords:
* Prince Ansom to Jetstone and later Gobwin Knob (Prisoner of Faq)
* Prince Ossomer to Jetstone (Decrypted, Turned, served Jetstone as Warlord and was finally dusted)
* Stanley the Plaid while in the service of King Saline IV (Now Ruler of Gobwin Knob)
* Manpower the Temporary to Gobwin Knob (Croaked, Uncroaked, destroyed)
* K.C. to Unaroyal (Decrypted, Serving Gobwin Knob as Warlord)
* Prince Sammy to Haggar (Croaked)
* Princess Jillian to Faq (Prior to first fall of Faq)
* Princess Cruz to Unaroyal (Croaked, Decrypted, dusted)
* Atomic Firebaugh to Goodminton (Croaked, Uncroaked, dusted)
* Pom Fritz to Goodminton (Croaked, Side destroyed)

Speculation
It is implied that an Uncroaked unit cannot be a Chief Warlord. When Manpower is killed at the Battle of Warchalking, Stanley sends Wanda to uncroak him, and also orders her to select another unit from the ranks to be promoted into his place. That replacement would have been unnecessary if it were possible for him to remain Chief Warlord in his Uncroaked state, or if another uncroaked warlord could peform the task. It is likely that this is because a Chief Warlord needs to have the upper-level brain functions lost during the uncroaking process. The Chief Warlord needs to give orders, not take them, and uncroaked are capable of only simple tasks, reasoning not included. Either that or the zombification reduces the Leadership bonus given by a Warlord to the point where it would have been better to promote a low level unit to Chief Warlord.

Possible Previous Chief Warlords
The following may have been Chief Warlords:
* Lady Phat-Singh to Gobwin Knob
* Archduke Ferdinand to Gobwin Knob
* Sir Leeroy Jenkins to Gobwin Knob
* Ensign Toast to Gobwin Knob

216.185.68.30: loosing status as capital - it's not the tower - it was the king.

city101
Proposed Canon
A Capital is the primary City of a Side. By default, a capital and side have the same name, though these can be changed by the ruler. However, this is uncommon, even in the case of capitals conquered by other sides.

Certain things can only be done in a side's capital city, and each side may only have one capital.
*Promoting units
**Common troop to Warlord 1
**Unit to Heir
*Popping royals
*Using the built in portal to the Magic Kingdom.

If a side wishes to switch its capital, its ruler must do so by sitting on their throne. If a capital city is counquered by another side it loses it's status as capital.

Speculation
If a side's capital city falls, but the ruler or heir still lives, the side's units becomes Barbarian. Should a Barbarian Ruler or Heir claim a city, they may re-establish their former side.

If a side's capital city falls, but side controls other capital cities, the side might not revert to barbarism. Instead, one of the other capital sites might become the side's new capital.
Capital Site
Capital sites are the location of capital cities.

A Capital must be located at a capital site. Should a Barbarian Warlord capture a capital site, they may claim the city and become an established Capital Side.

Speculation regarding capital sites comes from the fact that Stanley flew to Faq when he intended to create a new side. It's possible that he flew there because it was the nearest abandoned city. Or, he needed the capital site to start a new side.

No special rules have been mentioned for capital sites in Erfworld canon, but it is speculated that capital cities can only be built on capital sites. Alternatively, a ruler may simply declare any city of theirs to be their capital site.

Should any city be conquered by a Barbarian Warlord, they might be able to create a side and declare that city to be their capital. Alternatively, Barbarians may only start a new side when they conquer a capital city or claim an already existing capital site.

Even if a Capital city is destroyed, the capital site remains. It can be claimed and used to rebuild the city.1

Effect of number of sides
The need for functions to be performed by capitals may place restraints on how big a side can become. Two sides with ten cities may be inherently stronger than one side with 20 cities due to more leadership or better logistics.
Can tap thinkograms?
When Tramennis and Jillian try to call Charlie during the Battle of Jetstone, they are told that charlie is "on another call at the moment" and we cut to Parson talking over a thinkogram. http://www.erfworld.com/page/49/ Charlie does not answer the other calls until after Parson's thinkogram finishes. Shortly after Parson explains his plan to solve the debacle at the battle of Jetstone, Charlie tells Jillian that Gobwin Knob "can" do something. http://www.erfworld.com/page/47/ This implies that either he has thought of the same idea as Parson or that he tapped into Parson explaining the battleplan.
Compromised?
Charlie is described here as concerned that Parson has compromised his security. Could another interpretation of the data be that the decrypting of so many archons is the cause for concern, and not Parson at all?

Charlie and Earth
Any suggestion that Charlie is somehow from Earth is entirely speculative and without any foundation whatsoever. He does not metagame or do anything a genius local couldn't. He is also in possession of perhaps the single strongest communication capacity in Erfworld and may have unmatched intelligence.<br>
<br>
AND if the Charlie's Angel's anaglogy is maintained, we will never learn one way or the other. He is an enigma, like Vaarsuvius' sex, and the truth will never be revealed.<br>
--Kreistor 16:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
<blockquote>"Entirely speculative" seems like it might not be terribly inappropriate for the "speculation" section, but that's just me going all crazy with my reading comprehension.

I don't want to start an edit war over one speculative line in a webcomic wiki. But claiming that it's "without any foundation whatsoever" strikes me as arbitrary and incorrect. After all:<ul><li>As mentioned in the article, other residents find Charlie particularly inscrutable. It's not a tremendous stretch to see Maggie telling Parson that he may be a match for Charlie's strangeness as foreshadowing.<li>The "power of naming" exchange shows a potential cognizance of unErf-ly magical rules that is more detached than anything we see from anyone except Parson.<li>Charlie has a definite and very direct interest in Parson, not limited to his mathamancy artifact. This may simply be a recognition of Parson as a valuable (and soon-to-be-available) commodity, but could be more significant.<li>Also mentioned in the article, Charlie is the only resident not confused by Parson's IM abbreviations (though emoticons are apparently universal). Further, we see Charlie being extremely cavalier about the loss of a unit that he acknowledges having a bond with. This might just be his essentially mercenary nature. Or it might be indicative of a person who doesn't see Erf as "real".<li>This scene supports the "Charlie just wants Parson's salable skills" argument, I admit. But it also shows Charlie looking at the entire situation as little more than entertainment and challenge.<li>As above, but even more explicitly viewing the battle as a "game", something no other native Erfer does.<li>Charlie reacts to the volcano uncroaking as an unexpected exploit, not as a violation of the natural order of things.</ul>Nothing conclusive, I agree. Charlie could simply be a sociopathic native tactical genius-- indeed, it's how he's seen and spoken of by other Erflings. But seeing him as a potential Earthly gameplayer is consistent with the mechanics we've been introduced to with Parson's own presence, so it's not like I'm speculating that Charlie is really a steam-powered robo-insectile hive mind or Parson's Sith Lord father or something.

To wander even further into abstract literary criticism, Charlie's introduction and role in the first act is a classic presentation of the antagonist for the larger arc; an enigmatic but not immediately threatening figure who is very similar to the protagonist, but differs in ways essential to the overarching moral theme. In particular, he's a "field marshal" who shares Parson's analytical nature and is even more experienced and established than the new young upstart, but seems to lack the empathy Parson has developed for his troops. This is pure Joseph Campbell.

I don't believe Varsuvius's gender is a good comparison; that's a running gag whose answer is not relevant to the plot. If my speculations are even close, Charlie's origin will be very relevant and necessarily revealed. If he remains completely mysterious then it's safe to assume that I am completely wrong.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely. Honestly, I'd be surprised if I was right in any significant detail. But it is honest and (eventually) falsifiable speculation, based on a not-on-crack reading of the source material, and I don't appreciate it being deleted just because you don't agree with my reading.--75.72.164.171 13:29, 1 June 2009 (UTC)</blockquote>
:I think with the new IPSFP makes this graduate to full speculation. In the Wizard of Oz, both Dorothy and the Wizard were residents of "the real world" it's certainly possible that Judy and Charlie were both residents of Stupidworld. Removed:
:Both the Arkendish and the Arkenpliers share an additional link: their respective magic class of Eyemancy and Naughtymancy both include Motion as an element, along with two others: Stagemancy and Spookism. If the Arkenhammer uses Carnymancy as is speculated, than the fourth Arkentool could be implied to be from Dollamancy. 1
Link is obviously bad. 038 is Wanda and Jillian in the torture room. So, who wants to explain this Speculative link to Carnymancy to me? Is it just, "We want them all to associate to Fate, so we picked this at random"? If so, explain why I should be ignoring the blatantly obvious Shockmancy Stanley uses on Caesar, please.
Spec is cool and all, but let's not place Spec over clear and obvious evidence. It's not what you want it to be, just because the alternative is inelegant. The link to Shockmancy is clear and obvious to me. It's powerful and should not exist in a Warlord, so it has to come from somewhere. We're looking for something as powerful as Charlie's Thinkamancy and Wanda's Croakamancy. Pigeons and Walnuts ain't gonna match it. And this is Stanley we're talking about. If he had something as Powerful as either of those, he could never hold back using it anytime it was possible, despite its appropriateness. He's got Self-esteem issues and has to constantly toot his own horn and show off. Further, the association of Shockmancy with Dwagons is clear: blast and brreath weapons are eerily identical. Archons can use Thinkamancy.Decrypted are advanced Uncroaked. Another parallel. So, let's see something solid if you're going to ignore power... --Kreistor 01:34, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
:Ehh, I dunno, man. (The idea, as I understand it, is that the two concrete tools are motion-magic, so the others might be as well) It's a leap, but as far as believing what you want, you're not immune. I'll give you that the Arkendish = Thinkamancy and the Arkenpliers = Croakamancy, so it would be nice to assume the other tools also center around one particular type of magic, but to make that assumption is the same as assuming that they're centered around different Motion magics. It's less specific and therefore more likely, but it's the same leap. Moreover, because you believe this, you let it steer your opinion of the Arkenhammer rather than accepting all the evidence and determining that you can't make a conclusion from it yet. You're throwing out evidence as trivial, when, panel for panel, it's the best evidence you've got.

:For a moment, don't cling to the belief that each Arkentool must be associated with a particular magic. Certainly, the Arkenpliers were associated with Croakamancy before and after attunement. Anti-Croakamancy and then SuperCroakamancy, but nonetheless. The Arkendish definitely has a connection to Thinkamancy (at least, in the hands of Charlie, of whom we know probably the least of any major character). The Archons can perform Thinkamancy... and Foolamancy. And probably Shockmancy or Deletionism, or something else, at minimum. At least 3 different magics. And Thinkamancy isn't even clearly the major one, if there is one. As far as the Arkenhammer - Okay, the lightning most likely is Shockmancy, that would be my guess anyway - but it's still a guess. Yeah, it looks like lightning, but what if the Archons have Shockmancy that doesn't look like lightning? Are looks enough to be sure? And yeah, it was cool, and powerful, but the hammer also tames dwagons. And transmogrifies nuts. Possibly allows flight. And who knows what else? That could be 4 different kinds of magic, plus combat. Now, maybe if a caster had attuned to it, it would have gone along with that caster's forte. Who knows? Commander I. Heartly Noah July 1, 2009, 05:02 (UTC)

While the 'pliers arguably have no overt relationship to death or croakamancy, the 'dish could certainly be said to have a close relationship to thinkamancy, given that thinkamancy covers communications in the form of thinkagrams. This is why I edited the comment about how the appearance of the dish has no connection to its "association by effect" or whatever. DevilDan

I'm inclined to nuke the comment about "uniformity" entirely. We don't know anything specific about the Arkendish, beyond the statement "it provides unmatched Thinkamancy". We don't know exactly what Thinkamancy it provides, so how can we know there is any uniformity? And the Pliers have so far only done a single thing in Wanda's hands -- something that is the complete polar opposite of what they did in Ansom's hands, which isn't very uniform. --Kreistor 16:17, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

I think I'd agree. On the other, hand decrypting wouldn't work on uncroaked or on the living, which are the units on which Ansom probably used the pliers. I do have a more serious concern. Why are there "associated discipline theory" sections in both the arkenhammer and arkentool pages? I think a single section would be best, located in the arkenhammer page. We can insert a link to it in the arkentool page. DevilDan
: I second the motion to reorganize this discussion to a single page. At least to me, a general discussion of whether the Arkentools have associated magical disciplines (or, if so, whether they are all fate-aligned or not) makes the most sense on this page, linking to the longer, protracted discussion of the Arkenhammer's possible disciplines as a subsection of that page. :Dan, I'll leave that to you. Last time I edited this subject, it turned back into the unruly mess its in now. Maybe if someone else did it, it would quiet down? Wishful thinking, I know. --Kreistor 18:39, 29 July 2009 (UTC)<br>
:::Purely as a tongue-in-cheek comment by a passing fan/visitor, I would think that from the removed comment suggesting that the fourth Tool links to Dollamancy is fairly obvious. Since the main page states that this wiki is not a wiki-wiki, but rather a Tool, it would explain the ability of it as that fourth tool to convince otherwise lifeless creatures into providing useful work/content for Erfworld. -68.148.30.86 06:00, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Arkenhammer - Flight
The flight using the Arkenhammer was part of an illusion created by Jack. Stanley's dwagon appeared to be croaked - but wasn't. So Jack had veiled the dwagon and made it appear that he and Stanley were escaping via the Arkenhammer.

The arkenhammer may enable its user to fly, but there is no evidence for it. --87.112.79.233 10:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Arken saw?
Seriously, why don't I see this mentioned anywhere? Arken-shovel my foot. :P :) -Fennec 01:08, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Why not both? (Much as I love the Arkansas pun, I see no reason to discard the Arkenshovel) It has been said that there are four
KNOWN Arkentools. Knowledge of others might have been lost to antiquity, or just have been/are controlled by people who
find it advantageous to keep their possession secret; or they might be in some far distant corner of Erfworld that we have not observed.
So, why not an ArkenScrewdriver, ArkenTapemeasure, Arkenrazor (Occam's Razor anyone?), etc.

For all we know, there are plenty more Arkentools out there; they may just be locked away in the Arkentoolbox.

Don't forget there is a wide world out there beyond the scope of what we've seen. To think all the Arkentools were already neatly collected in a relatively tiny pocket of the world is strange and unlikely.

Alternate idea for the powers of the Tools
It could be that the Arkentools magnify the Attuned's natural abilities/focused disciplines to 'unmatched' levels. Charlie could have been a regular Thinkamancer or had some form of Natural Thinkamancy due to his/her unit type. The Dish magnified that to insane levels, completely overshadowing whatever else Charlie had previously been able to do. Ansom was unable to Attune to the Pliers, so all he could manage to get from them was a meager bonus to slaying stuff. Given his character and nature, he probably didn't test the effectiveness of the Pliers out on a living unit, and so assumed they were specific to dusting Uncroaked abominations. It may have also been giving him a small Leadership bonus. In the hands of Wanda, the Pliers amplified her Croakamancy, making the Decrypted a version of 'unmatched Croakamancy'.

In Stanley's hands, the Hammer may just be amplifying his natural abilities, which is not a focused discipline. Without a focus to amplify, it simply grants a smathering of magic-like abilities in response to what Stanley wants to do. He wanted to get to his Dwagon mount, so it assisted him by giving him flight. Stanley wanted to smack Ceasar out of the sky, so it added a huge blast to the attack. Stanley wanted to be a rock star to go along with his dancefighting, so the Hammer rocks out. Stanley wanted to be stronger in combat, and the strongest unit type he knew of was the dwagons, so it allowed him to tame dwagons.

The main limitations to them are how focused the Attuned's mind is. If Stanely gets Croaked, and someone else Attunes to the Hammer, it may focus their abilities to unparalleled levels. And there may be a link between the tools that makes it so that no two unit types can be bonded to any Tool at the same time -- so since Charlie is displaying unmatched Thinkamancy, no thinkamancers can Attune to a tool. This may explain while, since Stanely was presumably a CWL at the time Ansom first wielded the Pliers, Ansom was unable to Attune.

Hypothetically, if a barbarian caster found an unused capital site (Like FAQ used to be) or an unused city, could a caster become an Overlord? We know that Barbarian warlords can, and we know that casters are basically warlords without a leadership ability. So if this is true, what kind of bonuses could a Caster have as a faction leader? - Jedifreak

:It's an interesting question. My guess is no, but it would be cool if so. - CIHN
:Now that I think about it, perhaps that is what Charlie is. - Jedifreak
:We know that casters can be made overlords - Wanda for example (however short that was) - that fact seems to support this, however we don't know if Firebaugh had to promote Wanda "through the ranks" per-se to get there and just did it all at once.216.185.68.30 14:04, 4 February 2013 (EST)
