Per Rob on August 19th, 2009:

I am going to make a more drastic change. A change to the magic table. If you now look at Klog 2, you will see that the branch of magic I called "Deletionism" is no longer there. It has been deleted.

In its place is a new branch of magic: "Retconjuration." (The name was also Rich's idea.) This is a theoretical branch of magic, like an undiscovered element on the periodical table. No ordinary caster can practice it; there are no Retconjurers in Erfworld. It is reserved for the Titans. And I can tell you, they don't like it much and use it as seldom as possible. I apologize for invoking it now, especially to the wiki editors.

So, any differences you notice between the printed book and the old archives you can chalk up to Retconjuration, the ultimate form of Naughtymancy.8/19/2009
*A style of magic that specializes in nullifying or diminishing opposing unit stats, bonuses, or special abilities.
*May be a reference to the Dungeons and Dragons spell 'Disintegrate,' suggesting that it specializes in purely destructive magics.
*May be a reference to "Chainfire," from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. "Chainfire" is a mental magic that changes people's memories to accommodate for the fact that Main Female Character Who Is a Major Political Figure's actions never happened, as that person never existed, even to themselves. Of course, this has the unfortunate effect of wiping out various sections of memory for varying people, bringing about The End of the World, unless Main Male Character does something. Deletionism is Naughtymancy, the magic of Motion and Matter, and the abscence of Life. It is aligned to the axis of Numbers. How Deletionism manifests is as yet unclear, but it could be the Deletion of Life, or of Numbers, or the use of moving matter to "delete" life. [[User:Commander I. Dancefight is not an inherent ability, but something that must be learnt. But because that means to admit that they are not perfect, most royals don't bother to learn. Stanley, Wanda, Vinny, Charley or Jillian don't have such sentiments. This willingness to improve themselves is also a prerequisite to attune to an arkentool. <br>
The trouble is, Parson doesn't get to escape and come back again before Book 2 comes out, because his RL body overdosed on it, or perhaps his immune system is just that weak, and he's in a permanent coma. One general problem with that theory is that the narrative regularly cuts away from Hamster, showing stuff he doesn't know about. In fact, that was one of the reasons why Vinny and, by association, Transylvito joined the Coalition: Even when not attuned, the bearer of the ArkenPliers can inspire feelings of Loyalty, Obedience, and Duty (LOaD) in Transylvito units.
I mean, Uncroaked are alright, but thinking, active Sides in your Alliance are something else, as proved by the Archon's similar LOaD to Charlie. In addition to being able to be popped like normal units, Transylvito units can also 'convert' others to their Side like Caesar Borgata threatened to do to Jillian in the last comic that he was featured in, by drinking the victim's blood, and making them drink Transylvito blood. If a unit is not Uncroaked, and another Transylvito unit is not nearby to assist in this, the ArkenPliers can do this directly by physically (Ansom's probable favored tactic)or Magically (Wanda's probable favored tactic) pulling on the victim's canines, making them longer.--BarGamer 21:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Caesar Borgata is the Chief Warlord to Transylvito.

Proposed Cannon
Ceasar is also Heir Designate of Transylvito. He got promoted because of his merits and is respected by the units of Transylvito. He was originally the Viscount of Vitalis, and thus a very low ranking noble.

Speculation
He is probably at least level 8, as he was quite unfazed by Jillian's dagger-attack. (She's level 9).

As a Viscount, he was lower in rank than a Count like Vinny Doombats.

Real World References
*His name is probably a reference to Cesare Borgia
*Caesars Palace and Borgata are famous casinos. Given the thug/mafia appearance of many characters from Transylvito, Caesar Borgata may be named for the casinos. This would also slyly imply a mafia connection to the casinos
*His appearance based on Kiefer Sutherland's vampire character, David, from The Lost Boys, or on the vampire character Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
: Good job! -- Muzzafar 04:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

If we want to structure the page according to canon and speculation, we need to make some changes. There are a lot of facts in speculation part; the reliance on magic and the first paragraph on the fall of Faq are definitely canon or proposed canon, because they are directly from the comic and the source (Jilian) is in that cases very reliable. --Welf von Ehrwald 10:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
: I agree. But I think we need to provide references to actual comic pages. (Not for Rob and Jamie - I am pretty sure they know it, but rather to readers.)
: Some things are ambiguous though. Banhammer's reliance on magic is beyond doubt. And we know that there were a Foolamancer (Jack), a Predictamancer (unnamed), and Wanda (but it was never mentioned that she was a Croakamancer while in Faq). Some suggested that Wanda was the Predictamancer. A pretty bold theory, but saying that Wanda was Croakamancer in Faq is a speculation since it has not been confirmed by the comic so far. -- Muzzafar 11:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
::I tried to work that in and make the article neutral without losing information . But it's not easy. --Welf von Ehrwald 17:59, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

New idea about the Fall of Faq - Jetstone destroyed it, after Stanley flew in the city to hide. Stanley fought off the attackers, but was unable to prevent the city from being destroyed (due to his inept tactics) and took a few of the survivors with him, back to Gobwin Knob. --121.217.166.203 04:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

BarGamer: /* Wanda, the Predictamacer */

Proposed Canon
Kingdom of Faq was a side in Erfworld. Faq was a home side for Jillian Zamussels.

Faq consisted of a capital (apparently of the same name) and two subordinate cities. It was surrounded with mountains on all sides and accessible only by air and tunnel.1

King Banhammer was the last Ruler of Faq prior to its fall. Jillian Zamussels was his daughter and a heir to the throne.

Mercenary Work
Although the kingdom had mines and farms it also sent its units to do mercenary work with gwiffon squads to boost the treasury.1 Apparently Jillian assumed command over them after she popped up and was able to reach a relatively high level as a result of her combat experience.

Reliance on Magic
King Banhammer relied heavily on the use of magic and had multiple Casters, including a Predictamancer1, a Croakamancer (Wanda Firebaugh), and a Foolamancer (Jack Snipe)1.

When enemy units appeared nearby, Foolamancer was able to veil one city at a time (as determined by Predictamancer1) and thus managed to keep the location of Faq hidden for a long time. That, however, has not saved Faq from destruction.

The Predictamancer foretold the eventual fall of the kingdom (which led King Banhammer to order an heir popped that happened to be Jillian).

Fall of Faq
Jillian Zamussels received a "frantic message about about a large overflight of dwagons". The next day she became a barbarian1.
Jillian never returned to Faq since. According to her the cities of Faq were never claimed. Potentially it can be rebuilt by Jillian to restore her side and become an Ruler and a Queen.1<br/>
Wanda Firebaugh later tells Parson of her role in the fall of Faq1. She lured Stanley to Faq, hoping that he would be defeated and she could take the Arkenhammer from him. However, Stanley ultimately won the battle, and Wanda and Faq's Foolamancer Jack Snipe joined his side.

Speculation
Wanda, the Predictamacer
(Wanda Firebaugh), a master-class Croakamancer originally from Faq1. <strike>It is speculated that Wanda originally served as the predictamancer of Faq. This theory is supported by the fact that Faq did not participate in any wars and therefore had no use for a croakamancer, nor any croaked bodies for her magic practice. Wanda is also known to be very adept in other classes of magic1. <br>
Except for these indirect derivations there is no further support for this theory. Wanda also has never practiced predictamancy in the strip.</strike>

Fall of Faq
Readers are led to believe that Faq has fallen in a quick attack from Stanley the Plaid. Yet this was never definitely confirmed in the strip. <br>
A popular theory claims that this happened because Wanda betrayed her kingdom in order to get the Arkenpliers. Often the presumptive attack is thought to be the "special mission" during which the revolt of the gobwins in Gobwin Knob happened and King Saline IV was croaked. <br>
Another - unlikely - theory claims that Faq was destroyed by Jetstone. This theory assumes that Wanda once possed the Arkenpliers and Ansom stole them, based on their talk when they met1.
A third theory states that Faq was never destroyed and King Banhammer just got rid of Jillian. <br>
Yet there is much room for further speculation.

Location
Faq seems to be located in the vicinity of the Kingdom of Transylvito as Transylvito units passed by Faq (although not seeing it) from time to time.1

Each Class has three Disciplines. Each of these Disciplines uses one of the three Magical Axes -- Erf, Fate, or Numbers. (Ie. Thinkamancy, a Discipline of Eyemancy, is aligned to Fate.) Each Discipline has a limited number of spells.1

Casters
Casters cast magic spells, which alter the world around the Caster in some way, gather information, or otherwise provide a result that would be considered extraordinary or supernatural on Earth. Each Caster has one Discipline of specialization.

Casters are titled after their Discipline of specialization. For instance, a Caster that specializes in Lookamancy is known as a Lookamancer.

One or two Casters can also Link with a Thinkamancer to cast even more powerful spells. However, there are risks.
Casting Spells
The reason that the Archons are good with Thinkamancy might be due to them being the Arkendish special unit (assuming that they are). Charlie hasn't been seen to use any other unit type.

In any case, I don't think their mastery of Thinkamancy is evidence that the dish gives Thinkamancy power to all of his units.
--Raphfrk 03:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

(
I am of the opinion that the Archons are warlords (give or take) or casters (if they aren't warlords) So, given that they have a great deal of communication with Charlie... I wouldn't consider it far-fetched if they received abilities like we receive satillite internet. I mean, Maggie has nothing on them (I would assume she is a decent level). They are definitely flying units. HOWEVER, due to less knowledge about the variety of caster and warlord than we would like (i.e. can we have a warlord dwagon?), we cannot assume that they are because we must assume that they are never 'leading' stacks. When Wanda 'aggros' only Jaclyn, who is extremely close to Jillian and may or may not be her level, is croaked among Charlies Archons. When uncroaked, she acts like a flyer, with meelee. Warlords, when uncroaked, are still warlords (depending on how the uncroaking occurred, I would assume). Casters act like basic infantry when uncroaked. SO! Archons, except for maybe the blond one, may not be warlords, but are casters.

Conversely, they could be like... level 20 and super units. But Charlie wouldn't send super powerful units to this engagement, as, after all, Gobwin Knob MUST be known for it's Croakamancy, all it would take is one of his super-Archons being uncroaked (with a good deal of time spent on it) to tip the favor, severely, for his enemies. Charlie is not the sort of person to allow himself to be put in a corner like that. (level 20 flyers would be BAD news, especially since his base looks 'flyer only' accessible) He would not 'sell' his super-units to Jetstone, like he does the Archons we know. HOWEVER! Jillian mentions that ('You'll level' http://www.erfworld.com/book-1-archive/?px=%2F065.jpg, 10th frame) at least one of the Archons will level (Jaclyn?) debunks my own theory.

SO: Because Charlie will not commit super units for anything, and the Archons may level after croaking some wounded dwagons. Taking all their super-thinkamancy skills into account. We must assume that they are enhanced by the arkendish in some way.
)
Xewleer. Apologies for the length.
Stanley, Wanda, Vinny, Charley or Jillian don't have such sentiments. This willingness to improve themselves is also a prerequisite to attune to an arkentool. <br>
Stanley put effort into learning dancefight when he was infantry and was so successful that he was promoted to warlord.
The trouble is, Parson doesn't get to escape and come back again before Book 2 comes out, because his RL body overdosed on it, or perhaps his immune system is just that weak, and he's in a permanent coma.
Magic Item is an item that is both magical and made by a mortal. An item with magical powers created by the Titans is called an Artifact.1

Speculation
Known Magic Items
Eyebooks
Stanley the Tool and his main subordinates (Wanda Firebaugh, Sizemore Rockwell, and Parson Gotti) carry eyebooks. They resemble ordinary hardback books, of variable size (see below). They were created by Stanley's trio of linked casters, using the three disciplines of Eyemancy (Lookamancy, Thinkamancy, and Foolamancy). Once created, they function under their own power, and continued to do so after the trio was unlinked.

An eyebook is able to transcribe messages from the user's thoughts and send them to another user's Eyebook. Parson also uses his to keep a journal (called a "Klog", derived from "book log", in the same way that a real-world term "blog" is derived from "web log"). Eyebooks also have the ability to change size, conveniently shrinking to be easily carried and growing to a size suitable for Parson.

The name is a pun on the iBook type of laptop computer.

Flying Carpet
Prince Ansom has a flying carpet. It resembles a conventional carpet, either rolled up (which is Ansom's usual style of riding) or spread out. The type of magic it uses has not been specified.

The carpet is able to carry at least two riders.

Message Hats
Ansom has a pair of message hats. They resemble fancy-dress top hats. Presumably, they use Hat Magic, but this has not been specified.

A written message may be placed into the sending hat and transmitted to the receiving hat (which rumbles to alert the owner). These particular hats only work in one direction; however, other hats capable of two-way communication may exist. (Upon being given the sending hat of the pair, Jillian Zamussels asked if it was "dual use" and was told that it was "abjuration only". This appears to imply that the former term describes a two-way hat and the latter describes a one-way sending hat.)

3D Goggles
Parson's 3D Glasses were discovered in his first Stupid Meal. They confer on him one of the abilities normally associated with Warlords native to Erfworld. When worn, the glasses allow Parson to view the stats of a Unit such as Move, Hit, Attack, and Defense, as well as any Natural Abilities of the Unit, which is an innate ability of all Warlords and Casters native to Erfworld.1. They also allow Parson to see the name of a Unit, which is not an innate ability of Warlords and Casters.

Mathamancy Bracer
A plastic bracer that arrived in Parson's second Stupid Meal. With a neat little groove for his calculator watch to fit into. Apparently a powerful Mathamancy based item (or possibly an Artifact1) of great interest to Mathamancy dependant factions like CharlesComm11.

The Sword of Lord Hamster
Parson's Sword arrived in his Stupid Meals - one part per day for three consecutive days. According to the Luckamancy Charms cereal box1, the sword is the final item necessary to turn Parson into the "Perfect Warlord" that the summoning spell intended him to be. (The other items being his 3D Glasses and Mathamancy Bracer). Stated abilities include Leadership, Combat and Ruthlessness.

When Wanda 'aggros' only Jaclyn, who is extremely close to Julian and may or may not be her level, is croaked among Charlies Archons.

HOWEVER! Julian mentions that ('You'll level' http://www.erfworld.com/book-1-archive/?px=%2F065.jpg, 10th frame) at least one of the Archons will level (Jaclyn?) debunks my own theory.

SO: Because Charlie will not commit super units for anything, and the Archons may level after croaking some wounded dwagons. Taking all their super-thinkamancy skills into account. We must assume that they are enhanced by the arkendish in some way.
)
Xewleer. Apologies for the length.
One of the Arkentools. It is currently attuned to Stanley the Tool. It has played a key part in his rise to power.1

Speculation
It should be noted that some of the pigeons thus created turn back into walnuts after being croaked (or once cooked, or perhaps simply contain walnuts somewhere inside).1 The exact effects of this tool striking living things are mostly unknown. So far in the comic, one Orly has been struck with the Arkenhammer in combat; it happened to turn into a walnut.1

It should be noted that both Thinkamancy (with which the Arkendish is associated1 and Croakamancy (with which the Arkenpliers are apparently associated] lie in the axis of Fate. It was also mentioned that attunement to an Arkentool is governed by Fate magic. 1 So far it is unclear what discipline of Magic powers the Arkenhammer, but it would make perfect sense if that would be one of the Fate disciplines.

Since turning one kind of things into a completely different kind of things is a popular trick of stage magicians it might be possible that Arkenhammer belongs to Stagemancy and Carnymancy in particular.

Value
What follows is a list of prices and values that have been mentioned in the comic, ordered by value:

* The spell to summon Parson cost a total of 500,0001 Shmuckers; 150,000 for the casting and support plan, 350,000 (which is all that Stanley would pay) for the spell itself. Stanley considered this an outrageous sum, and the larger figure was literally Gobwin Knob's entire treasury1 at the start of the comic.
* Charlie tried to charge Don King 250,000 per turn to ally himself with Transylvito in order to ambush Stanley on his way to Faq.1 The price was high, and designed to make Don King reluctant to pay.
* Jillian argues that 2,500 Shmuckers for Charlie's Thinkagram1 service is far from a "nominal" fee as advertised by one of the Archons. Webinar mentions that the fee is "for two-way". A presumably one-way Thinkagram to Ansom cost her 1700 Shmuckers, which was almost her entire purse.1
* Parson's upkeep is "over 1,000 Shmuckers per turn"1. Stanley seems to regard this as annoyingly expensive, but not utterly outrageous.
Description
Doombats, under the command of Count Vinny Doombats, are one type of flying unit included in Prince Ansom's coalition against Stanley. Individually, Doombats are relatively weak in combat.1 However, they are very useful for scouting: Vinny can remotely look through the eyes of his doombats.1 It appears to cause Vinny distress to "watch" while one of the bats is croaked in combat (or he is just sorry to lose his units).1

Whether a warlord has to be a properly "attuned" to receive intelligence information from a scouting doombat is not clear.

Plot
A scouting bat discovered the incoming raids against Ansom's siege units, and additional bats mapped out a ring of dwagons that had apparently been deployed as a defensive formation for the wounded raiders. In each case, the bat was lost after encountering the enemy, being no match for a dwagon.

After a force of forest units led by Ansom broke into the dwagon ring, a bat was sent into the protected center hex of the ring, and found it to be empty. Ansom did not consider this finding to be final, and went to see for himself. Wanda Firebaugh speculated that he believed that the center hex contained veiled units. These events indicate one limitation on doombats' scouting ability (they are apparently more susceptible to deception by veiling than a high-level warlord such as Ansom).

Use of Magic
Every caster belongs to a school of Magic (e.g. Thinkamancy or Croakamancy) and can cast spells from that school. Casting spells uses a Caster's energy or "juice"1 so there is a limit on the amount of magic a Caster can perform during one turn 1.

Casters are also able to cast spells (in form of scrolls) from other schools of Magic (apparently with varying efficiency)11 as well as their own school1. Apparently casting spells from scrolls does not spend Caster's "juice".

Casters are Commanders and can lead units in combat.1

However, they almost never do so since they are too rare and valuable to risk. Moreover, they do not have Leadership ability and thus give no Leadership bonus to units under their direct command. In some special cases they do give a bonus to the lead troops: known examples are Golems led by a Dirtamancer and uncroaked led by a Croakamancer).1
Warlord is a unit that has Leadership ability11. That special (or natural) ability allows Warlords to lead other units in combat and grant a bonus to units under their command.
Commanders
On some occasions terms Warlord and Commander are used interchangeably.1

However, Commander is a more general term since Casters are Commanders too1, but they do not have Leadership ability.

Infantry units can be promoted to warlord in the capital (although at a high cost).1

Speculation
Apparently, warlords can be trained in cities.

Apparently, Chief Warlord is not a separate class, but rather a subclass of Warlord. Overlord seems to be a separate class of units (Overlords grant units in their stack a bonus1, but it is not clear whether that bonus comes from Leadership ability or as a result of some special rule).
Everything that fights is a Unit.1 Units may be grouped into stacks.

Classes
Units come in classes. Classes determine unit abilities and limitations. Known classes include:
*Stabber
*Piker
*Archer
*Knight

There are classes of special significance:
*Caster
*Warlord
*Overlord

Unit Stats and Abilities
Statistics are numerical values that are used by the Combat, Magic, or other systems of the Erfworld universe. Generally, the higher the number is, the better the Unit is. As these values increase, power increases linearly. 1

Every Unit has four statistics (stats) visible to Units with Leadership1:
*Move - Distance a Unit can Movement during its Turn
*Hits - Amount of damage a Unit can take before croaking
*Combat - Offensive combat value. Sometimes referred to as Attack.
*Defense - Defensive combat value.

Units may also have a fifth visible statistic:11
*Level - Relative strength of the Unit. Level is affected by Experience.

Units also have two hidden statistics:
*Loyalty - how strongly a Unit is aligned with its Overlord1
*Experience - How far a Unit has progressed towards gaining its next Level.2 Experience is (usually) gained by croaking enemies.

Units may also have one or more Natural (or Special) Abilities.

Natural Abilities
Some units have abilities that can achieve unconventional results, and can be used when not on Turn.1 These abilities are named Natural Abilities1 and are sometimes referred to as Special Abilities.

BarGamer: Fixed my own fix.

Commander is a unit with an ability to lead other units in combat. Warlords (including Chief Warlords) and Casters are Commanders.

Contradiction in Terminology
Parson states at one point that "any unit with leadership ability is called a Commander or Warlord" and "these units give a bonus to units under their command"1.

That contradicts with other statements that "only warlords have Leadership" 1 and that Casters are Commanders too1, but with no Leadership ability.

It seems that "Commander" is a more general term - Commanders have an ability to lead other units in combat (not necessarily deriving from Leadership natural ability) while Warlords are Commanders who have Leadership ability and thus give units under their command a Leadership bonus. It should be noted that in some special cases Casters can give a bonus to certain units under their command (known examples are Golems led by a Dirtamancer and uncroaked led by a Croakamancer)1.

Therefore, every Warlord is a Commander, but not every Commander is a Warlord.

Duty
Duty is one of the three effects of Natural Thinkamancy (besides Obedience and Loyalty) that an Overlord exerts on all his subjects.

Duty affects Commanders only. Has Higher effect on Warlords, highest on Chief Warlord. Duty requires Commanders to use their own initiative in the service of the Ruler. Another effect of Duty is that Commanders cannot withhold information and cannot conspire against the Ruler.1

Use as a Title
Word "Commander" is used as a title to address Warlords and, occasionally, Casters. In this sense words "Warlord" and "Commander" seem to be used interchangeably, although Commander seems to express more respect.

Stanley addresses Wanda as Commander1, Wanda addresses Parson as Commander 1, Jillian addresses Webinar as Commander1, Webinar addresses Jillian as Warlord1, Ansom addresses Jillian almost exclusively as Commander1111, Jaclyn addresses Jillian as Commander 1, another archon addresses Jillian as Warlord1.
Maggie is a Thinkamancer in the service of Stanley the Tool.

Description
Maggie the Thinkamancer was part of a group of three linked casters, along with a Foolamancer (Jack Snipe) and a Lookamancer (Misty). This combination was used by Stanley as an command-and-control centre: The Lookamancer determined the identities and positions of units on the battlefield; the Foolamancer presented this information in a readily understood display; and the Thinkamancer relayed reports and orders. <br>
Maggie also provided the necessary magic for the set-up; only a Thinkamancer can establish a link between casters. <br>
She is described as a "cold fish" by Parson. She is quite effective and provided Parson with a lot of useful information about thinkamacy.

Plot
After Lord Stanley ordered the breaking of the link, only Maggie left the set-up without damage. It is heavily implied that she shielded herself and channeled the damage to the other two casters. Therefore Misty died and Jack suffered since then from mental problems.

Since then she served Parson as adviser and as an instrument in a lot of his plans (i.e. calling Charlie and the coalition leaders).

She was also part of the the short-lived tri-mancer link involved in the Volcano Uncroaking1.

Real World References
Maggie is most likely a reference to Margaret Thatcher, to whom she bears some resemblance.
