Esarion:

Arkentools
There are three known Arkentools: The Arkenhammer, Arkendish, and Arkenpliers. Four Arkentools are said to exist. Each Arkentools are reported by many Sides to have originated as a tool of the Titans, divine Elvis like beings who originally created Erfworld presumably using Arkentools. Whether the Arkentools were left on purpose or by accident by the Titans is unknown, however, Toolists believe the Titans left them on purpose. Both the origins of the Arkentools and the Titan themselves are reported as if from legend. There are no known first hand accounts or documents of the legends.
Attunement
It appears that individuals may attune to a given Arkentool and unleash latent Titanic powers. In this sense, attunement means that upon physical contact between the Arkentool and the individual Titanic abilities are unleashed that would otherwise be latent. It is unknown if different individuals upon attunement to a given arkentool release different Titanic powers or if multiple individuals can even attune to the same Arkentool, though to date it appears only one individual is ever attuned to a given Arkentool at one time.

Attunement itself is noted as extremely rare and not easily predicted, but such predictions as an aspect of Fate axiomatic Predictamancy are possible as in the case of the Arkenpliers and Wanda Firebaugh. It appears that either the Titanic powers unleashed by attunement may be an amalgam of the attuned person's personality/powers and the Arkentool or that only a person predisposed to a required personality and powers would be able to attune to a given Arkentool. (See Toolist below for third Theory). Arkentools can be used by those un-attuned to them for superior but relatively mundane purposes without Titanic powers. The mundane powers appear to also be related to the Titanic powers as such was the case of Prince Ansom and the Arkenpliers as he could destroy Uncroaked units with them, but Wanda Firebaugh, a Naughtymancer was able to unleash Titanic Uncroaked powers with the Arkenpliers upon attunement.

Toolists and Fate Perspective on Arkentools
Some individuals, notably Stanley the Plaid, ascribe to a belief in Toolism. That the Arkentools represent the will of the Titans themselves. As such, the claim attunement to an Arkentool surpasses Royalty in declaring a legitimate right to rule. Others, notably Wanda Firebaugh, see the Arkentools as players aligned to timeless Fate itself with attunement and the Arkentools as simply players in Fate.

The Arkenhammer
The Arkenhammer is currently attuned to and held by Stanley the Plaid, Overlord of the side Gobwin Knob. Stanley is attuned to the Arkenhammer and thus can cause it to express certain Titanic abilities that would otherwise be latent. The Arkenhammer can be used to
*"Rock Out". Rock music being the highest form of music on Erfworld, per Stanley, the Arkenhammer in his hands can be used as a faux guitar and cause a full heavy metal rock music sound to be created at tremendously loud volumes. Rocking Out may convey combat advantages and perhaps be used in Dance Fighting as well.
*Transmute walnuts into pigeons, (and Orlies into walnuts)
*Command Dwagons
*Turn Dwagons to the owner's Side

The Arkendish
The Arkendish is currently attuned to and held by Charlie, Overlord of Charlescomm. Unlike the other Arkentools, the Arkendish does not appear portable and appears to be installed in the Capital City of Charlescomm. Most the specific Titanic powers granted to the amalgam attunement of Charlie and the Arkendish are unknown, however, it is known they they allow Charlie Titanic Thinkamancy powers or powers to work with Grandiocosmic Strings that mimic Thinkamancy. This has allowed Charlie to be the "telecom giant of Erfworld" and this is the main thing Charlie used the Arkendish for http://www.erfworld.com/2009/10/summer-updates-%E2%80%93-046/ These powers are so great they even threaten the Thinkamancy organization of Great Minds That Think Alike.http://www.erfworld.com/book-2-archive/?px=/2011-01-07.png Part of the reason that the actual powers of Charlie and the Arkendish are not known is that some of Charlescomm abilities may stem from Archon Thinkamancy abilities or Charlie's own abilities inferred to be a benefit stemming from the Arkendish and Charlie has never confirmed any of this.
*Grant caster like Thinkamancy Links 2010
*Grant the ability to black out all received communications 2010
*Allow Charlie to limit contact between himself and everyone else to Thinkamancy only via the Arkendish (even his own units) http://www.erfworld.com/2009/10/summer-updates-%E2%80%93-046/

*Be the greatest instrument of observation there could ever be http://www.erfworld.com/2011/02/book-2-%e2%80%93-text-updates-040/ as reported by Isaac, Headmaster of the Great Minds That Think Alike Thinkamancy organization

*Grant Side units a pleasant emotional reaction http://www.erfworld.com/2009/10/summer-updates-%E2%80%93-046/ 2010
*Grant some abilities to be extended to Archons in the Archendish Tower http://www.erfworld.com/2009/10/summer-updates-%E2%80%93-046/

The Arkenpliers
The Arkenpliers are currently attuned to Wanda Firebaugh of Gobwin Knob though they were previously held by Ansom of Jetstone and have at least been briefly in possession of Ossomer and Lady Sylvia Lazarus, for varying reasons. All the specific powers of the Arkenpliers are unknown, though the following have been seen:
*Grant the ability to Decrypt croaked Units, restoring them to a semblance of Life with full abilities, memories, and personalities and zero upkeep cost.

*Ability to dust Uncroaked with ease

It also functions fully as a melee weapon.

Weaknesses: Psychological Issues

First Appearance: TBFGK 49

Lady Sylvia Lazarus, nicknamed Scarlet by the readership before she had an official name, was a Unaroyal Warlord.

She appeared again in the Battle of Expository Bridge, now decrypted and serving Gobwin Knob. LIAB 7:4 She kills the captured Prince Ossomer under orders from Wanda. LIAB_10:7

She seems to have a preoccupation with fire, commenting at one point that she "rather hopes Parson Gotti will burn down the whole world." In addition, she seems to believe herself to be in an ongoing competition with death, and has proven herself to be willing and, in fact, eager to push her luck even against overwhelming odds in order to further Gobwin Knob's cause. It's unknown whether she had these attitudes in life.

Speculation
Sylvia was the highest ranking Warlord in Unaroyal's contingent in the Royal Crown Coalition. She served as an advisor to Prince Ansom and was the voice for her side as a member of the Royal Crown Coalition War Council. She was one of only four warlords at Ansom's table on the penultimate night of the siege; 1 - the others being Duke Nozzle, the Blue Warlord, and the Superfluous Warlord.

She retrieved the Arkenpliers from Ansom's body when he was croaked1 and was in possession of them for a short while1 before she croaked along with the rest of the Royal Crown Coalition in the eruption of the volcano.

Before she had been officially named, Rob Balder commented that 'Scarlet" is the Jek Tono PorkinsJekTono of Erfworld.'6085467, in reference to Sylvia's apparent death by fire in TBFGK 137.

It is possible that she is noble, but not definitely stated, as she might be royal. The LIAB Text 29 document, written by Balder clearly calls her "Lady Sylvia" several times.

As of LIAB 86, it's be revealed that Sylvia was popped as a stabber; whether this precludes her from being a noble or royal is unclear.

Sylvia's internal monologue in LIAB Text 52 clearly identifies herself as a former Royal, "As funny as this game was in many ways, inside her there was a former Royal who had been there."

Its possible that the bargain Jojo made to rig the rules in her favor are at the expense of other units, so that they are killed so that she is allowed to live.

Real World References
Lady Sylvia Lazarus is a reference to Sylvia Plath, who wrote a poem entitled "Lady Lazarus". The poem in LIAB Text 8 is a direct allusion to it, imitating it closely with just minor alterations to adapt it to the Erfly context.

Carnymancy is described by an apparent carnymancer as a magic to fight Fate and [succeed], or in the words of Parson validated by Jeftichew, a carnymancer, "the magic of rigging the game."
*Can rig rules in a unit's favor. It appears that the Carnymancer makes a 'deal' to do this, at least for some of these events, though the exact nature of this bargain is unclear. It is also possible that the unit affected by the deal may then owe a debt to Fate (or whomever), which may have to be paid back in some fashion. It would however seem that Carnymancy spells, rather than modifying unit specials or other stats, might affect the actual rules upon which Erfworld operates.

What is clear is that the effects of Carnymancy must somehow be distinct from the effects of Luckamancy, as they each occupy a separate magical axis, and Luckamancy so far seems less permanent than Carnymancy (one 'borrows' to produce its effects, the other makes a 'deal'; one operates within the 'rules', the other changes them).

As indicated by the Predictamancer Marie Lavraie, like a carnival carny it may be that carnymancers take non-carnies as stooges or suckers to be played. It is possible that carnymancers lie to these suckers as required to manipulate or alter Fate. After all, who but a master cheat would claim to be able to cheat Fate itself?
*Similarly, Carnymancers may also be related to modern day con artists for their tendency to trick 'marks' into participating in their scams.
*Alternatively, Carnymancers may adhere to a 'trickster' archetype, where their actions are not explicitly meant to harm or inconvenience an individual, but may also help or instruct.
*Both above considerations would fit in with the 'rule-altering' nature of Carnymancy, as it could serve to alter the 'rules' (or morals) which a unit 'plays' by. To keep this distinct from Hippiemancy (which alters a target's perception and might 'suggest' a course of action a unit would already be open to under a given circumstance), Carnymancy might instead influence that unit, to change what they consider to be an acceptable course of action in a given situation. As it is a form of Stagemancy, along this line of thinking it would also not be unreasonable for Carnymancy to be used to 'teach' a unit a new 'trick' (e.g., 'teach' them a new Special such as Archery).
*May have minor abilities of other schools, which would explain why the Arkenhammer has so many different and wild abilities.
*May involve taming of wild units, which would correspond to the Arkenhammer, like in a circus carnival.
*May involve mesmerizing the enemy with flashy production values, if Carnymancy was the extra element in the Vanna "Wheel of Fortune" linked Turnamancy spell. Since carnivals involve fooling the "townies", are there links to Foolamancy?
*Being in the Fate axis, could involve the alteration of cause and effect, totally redefining the show.
*As it is said to alter rules, Carnymancy might be capable of such feats as modifying archery attacks so that they could hit targets across hexes off-turn instead of hanging in midair, or preventing a specific unit from being injured or incapacitated by falls, and so on.
*It may provide a means to dispel or cancel other magic, as Jojo claims that he has a spell that can send Parson (who was summoned by magic) back to Stupidworld.
*Alternately, its effects might operate further outside the rules, as Sylvia suspects that, when they both served Unaroyal, Jojo might have made a deal that would prevent her from ever being permanently croaked.
Information
Rhyme-o-mancy is one of the three disciplines of the Magic class Stagemancy; it is aligned with the axis of Numbers and composed of all three elements of Life, Motion and Matter.1

*Tramennis has stated a relationship between Rhyme-o-mancy and music, which might imply a link to dance fighting.

Abilities
*As yet unknown.

Known Rhyme-o-mancers
As of yet, no known Rhyme-o-mancer has been introduced.

Speculation
We have so far seen one apparent example of direct Rhyme-o-mancy, a short but complex poem on the subject of Transylvito, Don King, and Queen Jillian.2010 It describes the side's current situation, and casts the Don's recent actions negatively. But the final lines seem to indicate that the poem is actually a spell: "Perchance he enchants, he incants, he cancels the antsy with a rant in Rhyme-o-mancy." Based on that wording, we may speculate that this spell is intended to allay the fears of the Don's followers. If it "cancels the antsy" it may improve loyalty and morale, or at least stop negative gossip.

The poem is accompanied by a picture of Benjamin in the court of Transylvito, standing somewhat apart from the Don and his warlords. Benjamin is most likely a Moneymancer who has the ability to cast outside his discipline. It should be noted that Benjamin Franklin, whom Erfworld Benjamin physically resembles, was a noted polymath. His Rhyme-o-mancy abilities may partly explain why Transylvitian forces are generally good at dance fighting.

Another possible example of Rhyme-o-mancy may be the rhyming that troops do during dance fighting. Dance fighting may be some form of Natural Stagemancy.

There are three other times in the comic where rhyming takes place, although these neither of these has obvious magical effects. The first example occurs the night before the final battle for Gobwin Knob, when the troops in the courtyard sing a song insulting Jetstone and Transylvito.1 Its only effect seems to be angering Prince Ansom and many other coalition members.

The second time is when Wanda attacks Ansom when he is alone on top of the wall. 1 She seems to be speaking mostly to herself--a personal call to arms, perhaps--but it may also be a form of intimidation, as the last line finishes just as she attacks Ansom.

The third, more recent time is when Ace Hardware attacks the Decrypted Archons above Jetstone with a magic item he created for the purpose of capturing them. 2 Like Wanda, he seems mostly to be speaking to himself, and since he appears to be fighting alone, he's likely trying to give himself some sort of edge so that he can go up against the numerically superior foe and successfully capture one of them.

* There is a fourth and fifth instance. In Inner Peace (Through Superior Firepower), when Wanda attempts to use Rhyme-a-Mancy when uncroaking Tommy Firebaugh. This may have helped to extend the amount of time before Tommy decayed. The fifth time occurs when Olive Branch uses a song as part of the spell to turn the city into a no combat zone. Both of these may constitute uses of Rhyme-a-Mancy to bolster other spells.

*If dance-fighting and music ARE related, then possible applications could be allowing Warlords to be popped/promoted with dance-fighting as an ability, making magic items that grant it, leading a dance fight themselves (possibly for a whole army or side while under a Thinkamancy link?). They might also be able to "Rock" as Stanley called it, though that would probably show up at higher levels of caster.

*It is possible that Rhyme-o-mancy can be used to boost the effectiveness of other spells, either by directly boosting their power or indirectly by providing a mental framework through which a caster can concentrate better and be more likely to cast a desired spell.

Due to its position on the Numbers Axis, and its association with Life, Motion, and Matter simultaneously, Rhyme-o-mancy could be an attempt to life up the underlying Numbers of Erfworld in a way that helps the Rhyme-o-mancer effect Life, Motion, and Matter in Erfworld. This would support how non-Rhyme-o-mancers try to use simple Rhymes (possibly a form of natural Rhyme-o-mancy) to positively affect their actions, through a proper alignment of the Numbers to create the desired effect on either Life, Motion, or Matter.

Proposed Canon
First Appearance: IPTSF Text 50

Judy Gale was Overlord of Haffaton. She was kept in a drugged stupor at the end of a yellow brick road and close to an emerald City.

She is described as a ghostly looking woman wearing a blue gingham dress and a long silk scarf, with her short white hair streaked with black and adorned with a dirt-covered diamond tiara. Her signamancy indicated personal decay; she is thin, skeletal to the point of weighing nothing at all; her teeth are rotten or missing; she seems to be missing her eyebrows, but marks had been drawn on her skin above her deep brown eyes which sort of resembled them.

She uses walking stick that appears to be broom with the straw burnt mostly off; it is implied to be magical, and capable of Flight. Around one ankle she wears some kind of Magic Item in the shape of an ankle bracelet.

In IPTSF Text 51, Judy Gale uses the word 'kill' instead of 'croak' while speaking to Jillian, but there is no explanation yet as to why she would use this term.

Real World References
She is named for the actress (Judy Garland) and main character (Dorothy Gale) from the Wizard of Oz.

Her gingham blue dress is a reference to the blue gingham dress worn by Judy Garland when portraying Dorothy Gale in the Wizard of Oz movie.

The magic ankle bracelet may be a shackle, but from it artwork it appears far more to resemble an electronic curfew tag.

Speculation
Judy could be a native of Earth, and brought to Erfworld for some currently unknown purpose, much like Parson has been. This would be in keeping with the Wizard of Oz references that this character seems to be heavily involved in.

Special Note
Judy is one of the few characters to have been a subject of Retconjuration; originally named Dorothy, Rob decided she was a more complex character, and Retconned her name to reflect that. 11/15/2012

The Kingdom of Faq is a Capital Side in Erfworld. It was sacked by Stanley, but has been rebuilt by Queen Jillian using funds provided by Transylvito.2009 It is now a member of the Royal Crown Coalition II. Count Vinny Doombats is the liaison between Faq and Transylvito; he has since become Jillian's lover. Jillian has formed a secret alliance with Charlie who helped arrange for the Western Giants to become Faq's Natural Allies. Since the fall of Unaroyal, Don King has been sending substantial resources to Faq at the cost of his own Kingdom, leaving its own borders vulnerable and repeatedly invaded against the objections of his Chief Warlord Caesar Borgata.

Faq consists of a Capital of the same name with two subordinate cities. It also has significant natural resources available as farms and mines. Faq's cities can produce Royals, Noble Warlords, Knights, Infantry, Gwiffons and Megalogwiffs. The rate at which new units are being produced has been substantially increased by Vanna.

Faq is surrounded with mountains on all sides.1 Some tunnels pass through these mountains. Much of the mountain terrain is of the "Impassable Mountain" variety which provides a small number of choke points; this makes it much easier to defend Faq against a numerically superior army. There is at least one pass through the mountains, called the Faq Gap. A river flows through the Kingdom of Faq.

City of Faq
:Main Article: City of Faq

From :
:"It was circular, sharp, and shining.

:The outer "walls" were useless against siege, even worse than Transylvito's. They consisted of a ring of stone teeth with a reflective coating of tin, inward-curving towers that terminated in spoon-like roosts for gwiffons and megalogwiffs. There was no gate. Vinny simply flew between these pillars and entered the city. A horn somewhere announced him as an arriving allied unit.

:The garrison was a set of six more teeth, much taller, fortified with solid walls that joined them like webbing. Three of these walls had gated archways, adorned with Gothic patterns in wrought iron and stone.

:At the center of the garrison rose a tower constructed with all the ferocity of Jillian's imagination. It was shaped something like a white marble palm tree. The trunk was a twist of six massive columns, tapering slightly as they reached straight upward. The top of the tower was a miniature fortress, a bristle of glass and hard spikes, with ledges and platforms where many dozens of flyers could land, or hundreds of defenders could lurk."

Brief Additions
Faq has briefly held a handful of other cities since Queen Jillian retook the throne. All of these acquisitions have been sacked.

* Kona -- formerly a Jitterati level 3, sacked in 51 AW
* Valdez -- formerly a Jitterati level 2, presumably sacked in 51 AW
* Progrock -- formerly a Gobwin Knob level 4, sacked in 75 AW

History
The Peaceful Kingdom
For over a thousand turns, King Banhammer sought a peaceful, non-violent existence for his Kingdom, and so avoided combat that put his nation at risk. His strategy was hide the existence and location of Faq from possible aggressors. At one point in Faq's history, prior to the establishment of Gobwin Knob and Jitterati, Faq was almost entirely surrounded by Haffaton, except for it's southern border with Transylvito. Fortunately for Faq, neither Haffaton or Transylvito was aware of the existence of Faq at that time. King Banhammer relied heavily on the use of magic and in the later turns of his reign had multiple Casters, including a Chief Lookamancer, Brother Orwell, a Predictamancer (Marie Lavraie)1, a Croakamancer (Wanda Firebaugh), a Foolamancer (Jack Snipe)1, a Mathamancer with Flight ability, Adderall Hawk, a Healomancer, Sister Betsy Murgatroyd, a Signamancer, Brother Labeler, a Moneymancer, Moothfott, and a Shockmancer, Rusty Trombone.

When enemy units appeared nearby (usually passing through his territory unaware a nation existed there), Marie Lavraie was able to lay out the route the force would follow, allowing Jack to Veil one City at a time; thus, he managed to keep the location of Faq hidden until Wanda revealed the existence of Faq to Stanley.
When King Banhammer was informed by Marie Lavraie that Faq would someday fall, his response was to pop his heir, Princess Jillian. Jillian was popped sometime before 625 BW.

Mercenary Work
Although the kingdom had mines and farms, King Banhammer found it necessary to send its units to do mercenary work, in order to supplement the treasury.1 Jillian assumed command over these mercenaries after she had problems with King Banhammer. Her employment as a mercenary provided her with combat experience that helped her become a 7th level Chief Warlord. At least some of those mercernaries of Faq met newly popped units at Mount Pilot.

Fall of Faq
Marie Lavraie gave Wanda a second Prediction: that she would one day attune to an Arkentool. This would lead her to desperate measures in finding her destiny. She eventually learned of Stanley the Plaid, a Warlord in the service of King Saline IV at the time, who had attuned to the Arkenhammer. Thinking to take this Arkentool from him, she conspired with Stanley to bring him to Faq. Her intent was to see Stanley die in the attack on her side.1 Her plan failed because Stanley unexpectedly acquired a large number of Dwagons during his journey from Gobwin Knob to Faq.2 Because he had a far larger force than he'd originally planned to use, Stanley succeeded in destroying and pillaging Faq, ending the side. Wanda and Jack survived this disaster by agreeing to serve under Stanley, while Marie Lavraie became a Barbarian caster in the Magic Kingdom. At the time of Stanley's attack, Jillian and at least some of her mercenaries were in the field. Faq's fall turned Jillian and the troops with her into a Barbarian force.1 Jillian's troops were later killed in battle with Witches1.5 and Jillian remains the only known former Faq Unit that is not a caster.

The New Kingdom
The restored Kingdom of Faq has been profoundly influenced by each of the three main survivors on the Royal Side of the Battle of Gobwin Knob: Jillian, Charlie, and Vinny. Without Vinny's efforts to encourage cooperation between Jillian and Don King, it is unlikely that Transylvito would have provided the resources needed to first rebuild Faq and than rapidly expand its forces. Without the advice and financial support provided to Jillian by both Charlie and Transylvito, Faq could not have developed as it has.
Between the three of them, these architects of Faq have a far better understanding of the personalities and abilities of the leaders of Gobwin Knob than anyone else on the Royal side. No one besides Charlie even begins to understand what Parson is capable of, and no one has the length of experience with both Wanda and Jack that Jillian has.
As the magnitude of the threat posed by Gobwin Knob grows ever more apparent, the question of how Gobwin Knob can be stopped will be asked with greater and greater frequency. Natural Signamancy suggests that the answer will be found in Faq.

War in Jetstone
When a Gobwin Knob army led by Wanda and Ansom invades Jetstone in 75 AW, Jillian leads a Faqian force in Jetstone's defense. According to Ossomer, LIAB 10 Jillian's force includes:

* 26 Gwiffons
* 6 Megalogwiffs (on LIAB 24, however, it appears that there are at least 10 Megalogwiffs, suggesting that Ossomer might have been wrong, or that Jillian upgraded at least four (if that's possible))
* 1 Chief Warlord Duncan Scone
* 1 Warlord Bobtail
* 1 Warlord Belzon
* 1 Warlord DeTrop
* 1 Caster Vanna

Jillian's forces are significantly less powerful than Wanda's flying force of Dwagons and Archons. Instead of entering into a direct conflict with Wanda, Jillian changed the tactical situation in Jetstone's favor by having Vanna (while linked to Charlie), end Gobwin Knob's turn before Wanda could take advantage of her superior strength and position. Jillian then captured Ansom, (which made it easier for Jetstone to destroy Gobwin Knob's ground troops), before leaving to attack the cities held by Gobwin Knob which lay between Jetstone and Faq. She sacked Progrock, and thereby gained 40,000 Shmuckers, after capturing Stanley's living units and croaking Wanda's decrypted.

Livery
Under Banhammer, the livery of Faq was green, Far Eastern styled clothing.

Under Jillian, the livery is now silver and white.

Natural Allies
Charlie gave Jillian the idea of making a deal between Faq and the Western Giants, who were allied with Jitterati. During Jillian's attack on Valdez, under the cover of a Parley, the Giants switched sides to Faq.

Given their willingness to change sides, Jillian may want to be careful, as this could cause problems later, since Parson or Charlie could offer them a new contract.

Western Giants are a perfect natural ally for Faq, as though they are heavies, they are mountain-capable, and may be able to cross through the gap on their own.

Speculation
Faq currently produces the same types of units which it formerly produced under King Banhammer. However, if Stanley rather than Jillian had rebuilt Faq, it would probably have produced the same units which were produced by Gobwin Knob. If Caesar had rebuilt Faq, it would probably have produced the same units as Transylvito.

Because Faq's terrain makes it well suited for defense, it may be that Don envisions Faq becoming a defensive fortress where he or his Royal Heir can survive, even if Stanley destroys Transylvito.
Jillian and Don are still unaware that Stanley the Tool has a growing army of fliers that includes Dwagons and Archons that could threaten Transylvito. But since Stanley has attacked Transylvito in the past, Don King may believe he will attack again soon. If he decides that Transylvito is about to fall to Stanley, Don could conceivably adopt Stanley's escape plan, and send his Heir, with the remaining flying Vampires, Goyles, and Doombats to Faq. Once there, they would become Mercenaries, whom Jillian could hire.

Faqian Philosophy
Under King Banhammer, Faq was devoted to the study of philosophy. 1
There may have been a correlation between the names of the towns and the style of philosophy practiced there. Philosophers in the capital sought to answer Frequently Asked Questions. Philosophers in Kibo were very critical of other philosopher's reasoning, deriding it as Knowledge In, Boop Out. Philosophers in Otoh, On The Other Hand, saw value on the arguments of both Faq and Kibo.

In the future, Faqian philosophy may develop in directions pleasing to Queen Jillian. For example, both the institution of Royalty and the Arkentools were created by the Titans. This suggests they may both have a role to play in the Titan's Plan. According to this line of reasoning, Stanley's great crime is to attempt to use one aspect of the Titan's Plan, the Arkentools, to destroy another aspect, Royalty. The rejection of the Arkentools by the members of the Royal Crown Coalition is equally objectionable. Jillian's efforts to combine the powers of Royalty and the Arkentools, by allying with Charlie, and possibly by attempting to persuade Wanda to return to Faq with the Arkenpliers, could represent the true will of the Titans.

Natural Allies
Faq could be attacked by ground units through a system of Tunnels. They would benefit from a force of tunnel fighters. Two possible types of unit which could fill these roles are Marbits and Gobwins. Given the problems Stanley is having finding Gobwins, it's possible that Charlie has helped Jillian forge an alliance with the Gobwins. There has been no reference to such an arrangement as yet, however. Parson has noted an unusual number of Marbits in the absence of the Gobwins which may indicate that Charlie has employed Marbit's as his own Natural Allies and is using them to wipe out the randomly popping Gobwin tribes before Gobwin Knob can find and recruit them. Whether he would be doing that to help Faq or just to undermine Gobwin Knob is purely speculative.

The Royal Heir
Since 41 AW, the production capability of the City of Faq has been used to create a new Royal Heir. What might that Heir be like?

# Caster-Royal: New sides normally produce at least one new Caster instead of a Warlord, but Faq has not done so. And the Heir may be affected by the way in which Turnamancer Vanna is using her magic to accelerate the Heir's development. Can a Royal also be a Caster? If so, he might be a Healomancer, given that "Castor Oil" is a medicinal drug. Given Castor Oil's use as a laxative, Dirtamancer is also possible, and very useful given Faq's mountainous surroundings.
# Philosopher-Prince: Faq has a tradition of philosophy. Might Jillian's child be like her Father in this way?
# Warrior Princess: She's just like her Mom.
# Transylvito Princess: Vinny is Jillian's lover. Does that make him the Princess' father?

Ansom is the son of King Slately, and the older brother of Prince Ossomer and Prince Tramennis. He was formerly the Chief Warlord to King Slately of Jetstone and the leader of the military forces of the first Royal Crown Coalition against Lord Stanley. He croaked at the hands of Bogroll and was later decrypted by Wanda while using the Arkenpliers. He then served Lord Stanley as Chief Warlord of Gobwin Knob until he was captured by Queen Jillian of Faq.

Before being decrypted, Ansom believed that Royals had a Titanic mandate to rule. He was also very loyal to Jetstone and to his father and brothers. Since he was decrypted, or "popped again", his ultimate loyalty has been to Wanda. But he hoped to reconcile his loyalties to Wanda and to Jetstone by persuading Jetstone to form an alliance with Gobwin Knob.

Speculation
Ansom's reanimation brought him back to a very close semblance of life, possibly with some missing memories, but with his skill set intact. While he still feels love for Jetstone and Jillian, these emotions are entirely overwhelmed by the love and devotion he feels for his "Mistress" Wanda.

As of Summer Update 33, his attack strength appears to be 25 without Leadership bonuses, unless he has some as-yet unmentioned bonuses or his own Leadership doesn't apply to himself. If his own Leadership applies, his basic attack strength is 15.

Plot
Prince Ansom's coalition forces included several sides including his own Jetstone tribe, other Royal-ruled tribes, various allied tribes of Elves, and Marbits, as well as a small barbarian force, chiefly Jillian Zamussels, and, at times, some Charlescomm forces, in a mercenary capacity. His goal was to conquer Stanley's last remaining city and put an end to him. As the story began, he anticipated an easy victory, given the massive numerical superiority of his forces and Stanley's history of inept leadership.

His publicly declared reason for leading the fight was to rid the world of Stanley's "great evil" (several of the other coalition members have been attacked by Stanley, though Jetstone itself has suffered only minor skirmishes with him prior to the current war according to Vinny). However, Vinny Doombats suspected that his real motivation is that he disliked how Stanley's rose from common infantry unit to Ruler. Ansom would deflect the question rather than answer it, giving the impression that the suspicion was correct.

Ansom strongly believed in the special status of royalty and nobility, considering it to be part of the right and proper order of things. This manifests as a strong sense of noblesse oblige and personal courage. On the other hand, it fed his tendency toward overconfidence and caused him to underestimate his "inferiors". The latter aspect of Ansom's personality was exploited by Parson as part of his plan to lead him into a trap.

He was in possession of, but was not attuned to, the Arkenpliers. Even unattuned, they have the ability to "turn most uncroaked to dust" but in his hands, showed no quirks like the Arkenhammer's ability to turn walnuts into birds and vice versa.

Ansom was ambushed by a veiled Bogroll, who was pretending to surrender as Parson. The twoll tackled him off of the Tower of Efdup, and thus Ansom was croaked. Bogroll died moments later, burned by the mob of enraged RCC troops in the Courtyard.

Following the Volcano Uncroaking, Ansom's corpse came into the possession of Wanda Firebaugh, who had recovered the Arkenpliers and attuned to them. She proceeded to raise Ansom, but the result was very different than previous uncroakings. Ansom returned as a Level 10 Warlord, with nearly intact memory, an unknown but large amount of independence and volition, no upkeep cost, and will not decay. His visual appearance was not significantly changed, although his personal symbol of radishes were replaced with skulls. Superficially, he appears as a living human. Mentally, however, he had changed greatly. Ansom was now loyal to his "Mistress" Wanda and has renounced his previous prejudices in favor of Royalty. Specifically, he agrees with Parson's statement declaring royalty to be "obsolete" -- a statement intended as an insult calculated to fluster and anger him into recklessness, but which Ansom now considers to be a sign that Parson spoke for the Titans themselves. Eventually he was elevated to replace Parson Gotti as the Chief Warlord of Gobwin Knob, but after being captured by Jillian, Parson was promoted back to Chief Warlord. While in command Ansom desired to take over the world in order to demonstrate his value to Wanda, and hopefully gain her love.

Real World References
Ansom's name is likely a play on the "Handsome Prince" and "Prince Charming", archetypal characters common in fairy tales. The combination gives "Prince Handsome". The three brothers Tramennis, Ossomer, and Ansom all use the same naming convention (slurred pronunciations of Tremendous, Awesomer, and Handsome respectively) in keeping with the pattern of related characters having related names.
He recovered after Jillian addressed him by name, despite the fact that being called by name by Parson had had little if any effect.11

Jack, like Wanda Firebaugh, seems to be extremely loyal to Lord Stanley, although for him this may be due to loyalty spells.

Jack's appearance, manner of speech, and frequent playing of the Fool as well as Foolamancer gives him a Shakespearean feel.

Ironically Jill(ian) could arguably be the one who fixed Jack's 'crown' that is to say, she helped recompose his mind.

Equipment
Jack has been described as carrying a staff with a Magic Eight Ball on top. This is a reference to how this toy speaks cryptically. Also, the webcomic Order of the Stick, which has had a close relationship with Erfworld, has had its character Elan carrying a similar staff.

Real World References
*Jack Snipe's crush on Jillian is possibly related to the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill."
*A snipe hunt is a fools errand inflicted on a gullible person - for example, the act of sending an industrial apprentice to look for a left handed spanner or a bag of half-inch holes. (Or headlight fluid and elbow grease.)(Or down to the Q-store for "a long weight"...)
*Jack's appearance and name may also be a reference to the actor Jack Nicholson.
*Jack's behavior and looks might also be a reference to "The Joker," the comic book villain from the Batman universe. The Joker was famously portrayed by Jack Nicholson (whose pre-Joker identity was named "Jack Napier" which is a pun on the word jackanape, meaning an impudent person, or a saucy and mischievous child). This connection is underlined in the first Summer Update First_Intermission_36 and in Love is a Battlefield 2, where Jack is revealed to be wearing a raiment very much akin to Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker.
*Jack's name and behavior is also said to be a reference to the Jack Snipe, a European migratory wading bird. The Jack Snipe is known for it's natural camouflage in it's natural environment, and the difficulty in spotting it without specific technique.
*While Jack is suffering from the mental effects of the breaking of the link, much of his dialogue is drawn from or inspired by the Fool in King Lear, including such gems as "may not an ass know when the cart draws the horse" and referring to Stanley as "nuncle".1
**Jack makes frequent quotation of real world literature concerning clowns, fools, or related characters. In addition to the aforementioned references to the Fool from King Lear Jack is seen to quote Caliban from The Tempest and Pennywise from the Stephen King novel It.
**Additionally, most of his dialogue while insane is quotes from Shakespeare's works, including "Tempt not a desperate man" from Romeo and Juliet and "Oh, Woe is me, to have seen what I have seen. See what I see!" from Hamlet.

Maggie is an Adept-class Thinkamancer, supposedly in the service of Stanley the Tool. However, she is a member of the Thinkamancer's conspiracy, and her real loyalty seems to be to the Great Minds that Think Alike. She used her magical powers against Stanley in order to compel him to make Parson Gobwin Knob's Chief Warlord, because she hopes to use Parson in the Thinkamancer's conflict with Charlie.
Maggie initially seems very professional and self-controlled; Parson initially describes her as a "cold fish". She loosens up a bit when Parson is demoted and interacts with her on a more social rather than hierarchical basis.

Maggie was part of a group of three linked casters, along with a Foolamancer (Jack Snipe) and a Lookamancer (Misty). This combination was used by Stanley as a command-and-control center: the Lookamancer determined the identities and positions of units on the battlefield, the Foolamancer presented this information in a readily understood display and the Thinkamancer relayed reports and orders.
Maggie also provided the necessary magic for the set-up; only a Thinkamancer can establish a link between casters.

Plot
After Stanley the Tool ordered the breaking of the link, only Maggie left the set-up without damage. It is heavily implied that she shielded herself from the 'whiplash' of breaking it causing the damage to be reflected at the other two casters. This resulted in Misty's death and a bout of insanity for Jack who continues to suffer from mild mental problems, though if this is a result of the broken link alone is unclear, due his being a Foolamancer and the tenuous grasp on reality that is apparently normal for the discipline.

Since then she has served Parson as adviser and as an instrument in a lot of his plans (i.e. calling Charlie and the coalition leaders).

She was also part of the the short-lived tri-mancer link involved in the Volcano Uncroaking1.
Description
Maggie provided Parson with a lot of useful information about Thinkamancy. When she is being didactic, as in First_Intermission_29, Parson sees her manner as resembling Catwoman. Their working relationship progresses eventually, and she grows to develop such respect for his abilities that she questions Stanley's decision to replace Parson as chief warlord of Gobwin Knob.

She finds a kindred spirit in Sizemore after the volcano link, and the two appear to have become quite friendly with each other.

There are some indications that Maggie may have some romantic feelings toward Parson as well.

Real World References
Maggie is most likely a reference to Margaret Thatcher, to whom she bears some resemblance.

Her outfit, specifically the black blazer with white piping, is also surprisingly reminiscent of Number 6 from The Prisoner - a rebellious former spy who refuses to bend to his captors' mind control techniques. (Given that this is a puzzling association for Maggie's character, this resemblance may be unintentional, or hint at an unrevealed backstory.) Maggie is one of the few Gobwin Knob units who does not wear medieval-inspired clothing.

Lady Wanda Firebaugh is Chief Croakamancer in the service of Lord Stanley. Before entering Stanley's service, she was popped by the side of Goodminton. Her father was Overlord Firebaugh who promoted Wanda to Heir Designate moments before the destruction of Goodminton. After that, Wanda worked first for Haffaton, and then later for the Kingdom of Faq.

She is capable of casting a wide variety of spells, including the spell that summoned Parson, but claims to dislike casting spells which are not related to croakamancy. She has a talent and a taste for interrogation and is capable at it to the point she can break a Royal's will. Wanda's ability to gain Jillian's cooperation through torture suggests that Wanda has some talent for Turnamancy, since it seems similar to the process Vanna used while turning Duncan Scone. Jillian thinks Wanda's technique is superior to Vanna's. In the past, she has also been known to use Dirtamancy to create memorial stones in honor of the croaked.

Wanda sees herself (and Stanley) as "minor actors" serving a greater destiny. She believes she and the other individuals who are attuned to Arkentools have a role to play in the Titan's plans, and that no one (not even herself) can prevent this plan from happening. She does think that by supporting the Titan's plan, and not opposing it, she can reduce the amount of pain and suffering experienced by everyone involved.

Wanda is of average height for a human female from Erfworld. She has raven black hair that reach to her shoulder blades (but is frequently worn up) and white skin. Her eyes are light blue with a white sclera, but no pupil, and the eyebrows are trimmed thin. Like all Erfworld humans, she has a somewhat childlike lower body with slender hips, adequate cleavage, and an overly large head (though this might just be due to artist drawing style). She dresses only in white, red, and black, and usually has some skull motif somewhere in her clothing or accessories.

The Maze of Fate
Wanda is absolutely convinced that Marie Lavraie revealed to her some predictions about the future of Erfworld that are certain to come true. She knew that she would one day attune to an Arkentool, but did not know how this would come about. She also knew that it was the Fate of the Arkentools to be found and brought together. As a consequence, whenever she had to make a decision, she took the path which seemed to lead most directly towards the fulfilment of these Predictions. If a choice seemed likely to increase the probability that she would gain an Arkentool, she made that choice, even if it seemed horribly risky. So she conspired to bring Stanley to Faq, because it was possible that he would die in the battle, allowing her to take the Arkenhammer. When that plan resulted in the destruction of Faq, she encouraged Stanley to adopt the high risk strategy of questing for other Arkentools, because it was possible that he might find one she could attune to. The quest for Arkentools nearly led to the destruction of Gobwin Knob, so she persuaded Stanley to buy an untested, potentially dangerous, and highly expensive spell which might bring a "Perfect Warlord" to Erfworld.
This spell ultimately did lead to Wanda attuning to the Arkenpliers, which reinforced Wanda's conviction that Marie Lavraie's Predictions had been true, and that her method of trying to push history in the "correct" direction does produce results. After she had obtained the Arkenpliers, Wanda made some comments to Parson which indicate that she thinks she knows some things about his future as well.

Now that Gobwin Knob's campaign to conquer Jetstone has begun, Wanda has once again started to make very dangerous choices, such as her decision to deviate from the battle plans proposed by both Ansom and Parson, and her decision to personally lead the attack on Spacerock. Given Wanda's past history, this apparent recklessness may represent an attempt to fulfill another of Marie Lavraie's Predictions. Jack Snipe has suggested that it in fact may have more to do with Queen Jillian.

A Question of Loyalties
After Wanda gained the Arkenpliers, she believed she'd found the most direct pathway to the achievement of her Fate. However, the sudden shift in her fortunes after she turned down Jillian's offer of an alliance has persuaded her that she has somehow deviated from the correct path, though she doesn't yet understand precisely how.
She will need to decide whether her error was her failure to immediately croak Jillian, her failure to ally with Jillian, or if it was simply her resistance to letting Jillian see Ansom. She continued to serve Stanley after she gained an Arkentool because she believes it is the destiny of the Arkentools to come together. But the restoration of Faq means that Wanda could theoretically choose to rejoin her former side, if she decided that doing so was consistent with her Fate.

Jillian has told Wanda that it is possible for her to rejoin Faq while still fulfilling her destiny, but has not yet explained precisely how or why this is the case. (It seems likely this is related to Charlie's patronage of Faq at the time--Wanda could have turned while still following her destiny, as Charlie bears the Arkendish.) In light of her new-found uncertainly about her correct path, Wanda may try to reopen negotiations with Jillian at the first opportunity, in order to explore this option more fully.

Wanda's Wardrobe
One of Wanda's listed strengths is Fashion, so it's not surprising that she changes her raiment much more frequently than any other character. At present, Wanda wears an "outfit" comprised of ripped bandages from her Fall into the Spacerock Atrium. For a catalog of her costume, visit Wanda's Wardrobe. Note that this page is image heavy.

Wanda's Livery
Wanda's livery is a Grey, flowered skull on a black field.

The flower is not dissimilar to the ones Dame Olive Branch used to subdue Jillian and Overlady Judy Gale of Haffaton. Based on conversation between Dame Branch and Wanda, and Wanda's emaciated appearance, it can be assumed that Wanda was also subject to the effects of the flowers at some point between the fall of Goodminton and her appearance in the memory garden.

Plot
Wanda was popped as the third caster for Goodminton. Lord Firebaugh had been falsely led to believe by Goodminton's Chief Predictamancer, Delphie Temple, that Wanda would pop as a Warlord. He was initially disgusted by her school of magic and wary of magic as a whole, but came to be more open-minded as Wanda showed her incredible value.

At the time she popped, Goodminton was in a desperate situation fighting a losing battle against multiple sides at once. With the obvious tactical applications of her magic, and her open-minded curiosity, Wanda began to turn the tide of the war to her side's benefit.

Delphi has told Wanda several predictions, which Wanda has done her best to defy (thus far, successfully). Chief among these is the prediction that Olive Branch will become her Chief Caster, and that her Fate is entwined with Olive's.

At some later point, Wanda becomes affiliated with King Banhammer of the Kingdom of Faq. The circumstances leading up to this change of sides is as of yet uncertain, but Wanda met Marie Lavraie and Jack Snipe in the Magic Kingdom shortly after her success with the Air Conflict over Goodminton city, when she was level 4 (presumably).

Following Stanley the Plaid's discovery of the Arkenhammer, she attempted to acquire the Arkenhammer by arranging for Stanley to attack Faq. She claims she expected Stanley to be croaked, but her plan failed when Stanley destroyed Faq. She then changed sides, and encouraged Stanley to seek the other Arkentools. 1
Since the fall of Faq. Wanda has behaved in a way that suggests she is loyal to Stanley. She obeys his commands and serves his side without being under any loyalty spells. However, this may have been only to preserve his power as a tool to aid her getting an Arkentool to attune to.

During the events described in Book One, Wanda supplemented Gobwin Knob's rather meager forces by using Croakamancy to animate fallen troops as uncroaked. In particular, all of Stanley's remaining warlords (after the death of Lord Manpower the Temporary), were uncroaked.

Wanda served as Stanley's chief adviser, being both highly intelligent and adept at persuading him to adopt her suggestions and think they were his idea all along. Most notably, she persuaded Stanley to spend the bulk of the treasury on a spell to summon a "Perfect Warlord" with the military genius to salvage Gobwin Knob's untenable situation, the casting of which summoned Parson Gotti to Erfworld.

Wanda contributions to Stanley the Plaid's war effort during this period included the practice of her "hobbies" -- torture and interrogation. After Jillian Zamussels was captured and brought to Gobwin Knob, she was subjected to torture and a magic spell (presumably some sort of Thinkamancy) and persuaded to reveal Prince Ansom's battle plans. (There is also a heavily implied sadomasochistic relationship between Wanda and Jillian, which indicates Jillian may not have been totally unwilling.) Wanda also demonstrated that she was capable of handling a wide variety of other Magic, but professed to lack real interest in any besides Croakamancy.

Wanda has recently come into ownership of the Arkenpliers and was able to 'attune' to them. According to her, it was Predicted in Faq "long ago" that this would come to pass, and that she has "wrecked and ruined" more than Parson (who, for perspective, had at the time of this comment just recently brought about the destruction of the entire Royal Coalition present at or near Gobwin Knob as well as all but a few soldiers on his own side) to ensure this would come to pass.

Wanda was able to utilize the Arkenpliers to acquire control of a large army in a single turn because she had the remarkable good fortune to attune to the Arkenpliers immediately after an army of thousands were croaked and before the bodies vanished. The fact that she acquired an Arkentool at the exact time and place where her new tool could provide her with vast power suggests that her belief that she was 'fated' to gain an Arkentool is correct.

Since she acquired the Arkenpliers, Wanda and her Decrypted Chief Warlord Ansom have defeated Unaroyal in the name of Lord Stanley. Their next target is Jetstone.

Relationships
Marie Lavraie
Wanda and Marie both served King Banhammer as Casters in Faq. Marie has profoundly affected Wanda, first by Predicting that she would someday acquire an Arkentool, and later by arranging for Wanda, and Gobwin Knob, to be the recipient of the Perfect Warlord spell which summoned Parson. Marie chose to give the spell to Wanda, despite the objections of Janis, who strongly disapproves of Wanda. The fact that she survived the fall of Faq suggests that Marie may have known of Wanda's plan to lure Stanley to Faq, either because Wanda told her about the plan in advance, or because she Predicted it herself.

Charlie
Wanda may be the single greatest threat to Charlie's survival, because Wanda is trying to start an ideological war. As long as War is simply a matter of different sides competing for economic resources, then most Royals will not hesitate to hire a non-Royal Mercenary like Charlie, if it seems profitable to do so. But by spreading the idea that there is an inherent ideological conflict between Royals and Units attuned to the Arkentools, Wanda is damaging Charlie's ability to persuade Royals to hire him.

Speculation
Wanda's Fate
Wanda does not know her ultimate Fate, though she believes she must gather together all of the Arkentools. But if the Titans believe that their creation has outlived its usefulness, then it may be Wanda's Fate to perform the ultimate act of Naughtymancy by destroying Erfworld. Given that all of the Arkentools were used to create Erfworld, it may be that all of them are needed to destroy it as well. It may be that Marie understands Wanda's Fate, but believes, as a Predictamancer, that it is not her place to try and stop the Titan's will. It may be that Marie arranged for the Ultimate Warlord to come to Erfworld so that he might unknowingly insure that Wanda achieved her Fate.If this is the case, then she has mislead Janis by persuading her that summoning Parson will result in the end of War on Erfworld. Of course, the end of Erfworld would also mean the end of war on Erfworld, so perhaps she has not explicitly lied to Janis.

Other Speculation
Wanda informed Parson after the Battle of Gobwin Knob that her real loyalty is not to Stanley, but to Fate. The question is, what does she believe it is her fate to do?

Wanda knew that she was fated to one day attune to an Arkentool, but did not know which Tool it would be, or exactly how this would be accomplished. This suggests she has not been in direct contact with Marie Lavraie. However, now that at least part of her Prediction has been achieved, she may try to seek out further contact with her.

Her willingness to continue working with Stanley, even though she now has an Arkentool of her own, suggests her future goals require at least two Arkentools. It's possible that she will try to acquire other Arkentools for other members of her side, such as Sizemore, Jack, or Maggie.

Many believe that Wanda looks eerily similar to Ashna.

Real World References
Her name is a pun on "wand of fireball", a fairly common magic item in "Dungeons & Dragons" and other fantasy games.

Depending on pronunciation, her last name also becomes "firebug", a slang term meaning someone who relishes causing destruction, especially through the usage of fire.
A very prophetic last name indeed, given the pivotal role she plays in the Volcano Uncroaking.

Her name has been used as a reference to the film, A Fish Called Wanda; however, there are no obvious parallels between the movie (the fish Wanda or the character Wanda Gershwitz) and Wanda Firebaugh.
Some have speculated that the death of the fish called Wanda at the hands of Jillian Zamussels may be foreshadowing a similar fate for Wanda.
