Panels: 10
Previous TBFGK 15 Next TBFGK 17 [edit]

Panel 1

An overhead view of Parson's gaming table, with the game board spread out on it, including a model of a volcano with a road leading from the base to a city in the caldera, remarkably similar to the layout of Gobwin Knob. Parson rests his arms behind his GM screen. The chinese food and other messes have been removed. Across from him sits his friend with the beard; we can see the back of his head, where he is sporting a yarmulke with the blood-stained smiley face from the "Watchmen" on it. The guy with the hat is sitting beside him.[edit]

Parson's Friend: Five months?

Ross: You really live for this, don't you?

Parson Gotti: You have no idea.
[edit]

Panel 2

A closeup on Ashna, one of Parson's friends. She looks concerned.[edit]
Ashna: Why? [edit]

Panel 3

A closeup on Parson's face. He looks a bit annoyed.[edit]

Parson Gotti: Whaddya want a soliloquy? You know why.

Because my life sucks!
[edit]

Panel 4

Parson gestures across his room, indicating its lack of windows, barren walls, mold, clutter, and mess.[edit]

Parson Gotti: My car is a rolling bomb.

My job feels like an endless training film.

Nobody reads my webcomic.[1]

This place is a hole.

A condemned hole. For squatter hobbits.

And to be honest, I don't actually find any of that stuff interesting enough to change.
[edit]

Panel 5

The view moves to Takashi and Ashna.[edit]

Parson Gotti: So... I game.

Ashna: And you run some amazing games, Parson.

But I don't know if it's healthy. It's such a huge escape for you.
[edit]

Panel 6

Here we get a very closeup view of Parson's gaming board, particularly the mountain the middle. It's a volcano, with a large caldera. In the caldera is a fortress city, with a single jutting tower in the center. A too-perfect S-winding road juts off the surface of the mountain, running down to the plains below.[2][edit]

Parson Gotti: Of course. Okay. Guilty.

But... I mean, strategy? Tactics? Logistics... systems... worlds? These are the only things that engage my interest.

See if I could, like, literally escape into one of these games, I'd do it in a second.
[edit]

Panel 7

A view from Parson's table, looking up at him. He looks quite annoyed now. His hand is out, his fingers in a "snapping" position.[edit]

Parson Gotti: Just snap my fingers and teleport in?

Absolutely.

Bam!

Seeya!
[edit]

Panel 8

The room is filled with bright blue light, against which Parson is silhouetted, his arms flailing wide. His GM screen topples forward. Near-white light pillars out of Parson's body and glows from his eyes and mouth.[edit]
Sound: PLOT [edit]

Panel 9

Parson's apartment, viewed along the length of the gaming table. Parson's friends stare dumbfounded at the plume of blue-white sparkles left where Parson was sitting moments ago.[edit]
(There is no text in this panel.) [edit]

Panel 10

The plume of light in Parson's chair fades slightly, and Parson's friends appear to regain some of their composure.[edit]

Takashi: You know... Over the years, Parson's had a lot of big ideas.

But this is the first one I've ever seen him follow through on.

Ross: Dibs on his dice.

Carl: Damn you.

Notes

  1. ^ There is actually a site for Parson's webcomic, "Hamstard." You can read it if you want to help him feel a bit better (and don't mind lowbrow vulgar humor).
  2. ^ Where have we seen this landscapebefore...?
