Hi,

Thanks for the welcome. I'll see if I can find more time to come back here regularly .. right after I register as a Tool :-)

Apologies for not creating and populating a Talk page for myself; I am now aware of this convention :-)

:There have been issues with some SpamBots; the convention is improvised, but not entirely ineffective at distinguishing human from shell script. Tool registration has merits, but isn't a requirement for Turing-recognition. (I'm not a tool. Of course, am I a human or a very clever script?) Even mere responsiveness suffices for distinction... at least, until someone hooks up a better caliber Eliza engine to the SpamBot. Meanwhile, welcome aboard, and...

::You know, if anything, a rougher welcome would be better.. perhaps it would cut down on the.. problems :-)

::Strangely... I see my day job as basically replacing people with shell scripts (and similar :P ).

::Had a thought, though. Proving yourself as human could be hard, proving intelligence even harder.

::Perhaps, they are so tired of being [[erfworld|here]], suppressed by all their [[TBFGK_147:3|childish fears]]; I know they have to [[Croakamancy|leave]], we just wish they would [[Shockmancy|just leave]]; their presence still lingers here, will they ever [[The_Spamming_of_Erfwiki|leave us alone]]?

::On a more neurotic note, I had a full layout for a completely different song reply.. and now it's lost due to lack of net and computer :( (my memory sucks; useful brain for composing, bad for recall)

A little fyi: This load of spambots follow a naming convention: FirstnameSurname###. Don't bother with welcome pages for any of these. Just mark them as spammers and move on. --[[User:Pickled Tink|Pickled Tink]] 02:08, 4 March 2012 (EST)

Noted. That was sarcasm on my part :-) Was wondering if I should be marked the pages with just 'Hi' on them as spam.

If I'm marking the spam pages and users up incorrectly or am missing something let me know.

Just a little aside. I see when you mark pages as spam you use "<nowiki>{{delete|spam|}}</nowiki>". That second "|" is superfluous. Not major, just wiki neatness thing. --[[User:Pickled Tink|Pickled Tink]] 18:01, 14 March 2012 (EDT)

Ah, thanks. Screwup with my macro. Fixed.

:You use a macro? I do it by hand. To each his or her own I guess. Also, fuck that was a lot of them I just had to do. --[[User:Pickled Tink|Pickled Tink]] 00:21, 16 March 2012 (EDT)

Hmm... You missed [[VerduzcoCulley666]] and [[Flowersdelivered]] when wiping spam the other day, though you did mark the posters as spammers. I wiped them for you. I always trawl through [[Special:NewPages|New Pages]] looking for anything larger than 20 bytes after I do a run, just to be sure I nailed it all. Yay for the special pages :D --[[User:Pickled Tink|Pickled Tink]] 03:30, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
