Book 3 Page 234 but with dialogue

So there were a lot of people in the reaction thread for this page that seemed confused about the events playing out, and the lack of dialog on the page wasn't helping to clarify matters. Well, I thought I might try my hand at making a version with dialog, to help make it clearer what exactly was going on. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a picture with words on it is probably worth even more!

Tipped!  Would have tipped more but that last panel was a bit too wordy.  Heck, maybe it could have done without words at al.... oh, right! cool

  • Thecommander236 (Tipped by 1 person!)

Let's keep it without the words. XD

  • robertzi7

Mmmmm, I don't think this is much of an improvement. Maybe we should take out the words and redraw what we think should be under the text without referencing the original page.

  • Tarvok

     lol, that last page

  • DukeBG

The typing layout is kinda terrible, though, mostly just on the last frame. Never cover a character's face with their own bubble's tail, and don't try to choke them by pushing it straight into their mouth either.

I also didn't particularly enjoy the joke.  Agreed with Thecommander236.

  • Bird

Well, I loved the joke. Great work.

  • Nik

I, too, enjoyed the joke and the spirit of creativity that went into this. I'm willing to overlook the coverage of characters' faces with bubble tails smile

  • ThisIsNotDan

Am I the only one who wishes it weren't cut off on the bottom? I wanna see how it ends! Or am I having some kind of page load error with my browser?

  • Lheticus

ThisIsNotDan I think that's the joke some others are referring to.

  • Roysmokesalot

Didn't really need the anti-smoking wall of text at the end...

  • Lori (Tipped by 2 people!)

I think there is always going to be a significant chunk of the fanbase that simply just, doesn't get things. Words, no words, it doesn't change much for these folks, bless their hearts.

  • Nebuched

Last panel is obviously a joke but I like it.

  • Bird

I'm posting again, because I've read this a few times now, and laughed each time. My favorite part of the joke was actually Caesar shoehorning in that "Nice of Gotti to lend us his bracer!" in panel 2.

  • BenjaminLavos

I thought it was pretty funny.
I also wish the last panel didn't cut out.
I wanna hear more about those cigarettes.

  • BillDoors

I assumed the whole thing was a meta-joke about telling instead of showing...

  • Tonot

This made me laugh. also, 2017, and people still get bent out of shape, when they hear anti-smoking jokes?. lolwut?.

  • Keybounce

I am personally a person that writes wall-o-text forum posts, and I have enjoyed Amber -- err, Ambaaargh's wall-o-text comic pages, so having a wall-o-text pun panel here is will within what I am used to seeing.

But I'm having trouble getting a good wall of text here for this response. or are the first two examples that come up on a search, and it wasn't even the one I was looking for :0-)

  • Slayorious

I'm shocked at the negative reactions. I thought the satire was as obvious as the exposition.

I hope Rob adds cigawettes to the canon somehow, but maybe not as described. If only because the reaction here was so strong over nothing.

  • Ozamataz Buckshank

I mean, there's one guy who claimed not to appreciate the smoking stuff, that's not really a lot of negative reactions. I certainly appreciate the positive ones, and the constructive criticism about my speech bubble placement, but I assure you that it's entirely intentional. My only regret is that I didn't cover more of Vinny's face, and I probably should've jettisoned Dolly's last line so Vinny could ramble more.
